My recommendation is going for the 50/60/70/80 roulette. With tomestone gear, you are ensured to be overgeared, which on that avoid being handycapped (where leveling roulette has a big risk). They are also generaly doable with w2w, so on that there isnt a lot of risk either. Just dont use sprint when grabbing mobs to ensure your teammates can keep up. And your knowledge of other classes should already be a good pacing indication anyway.

The fates or MSQ roulette can be a good reminder on ability rotations, but outside of that barely do involve any depth. They are only usefull to remember what each button does.

The thing to focus most on is ensuring that you have the aggro of all enemies. As this is where most failures happen (once you dont have it, and mobs attack the others, it can quickly result in some deaths). And to ensure aggro, do 2 of your AoE hits per group before going on (1 might cause a few enemies to still not have been in range). Dont worry about dpses taking over the aggro, they at the wall will run past to you to allow you to easily take the aggro back (and if they dont, its their fault).

Do that, and you quickly can get back into tanking, and optimize your playstyle.

There's unequipping as noted, but that's considered somewhat socially gauche by the community - mainly because so many people are bored of getting the lowest level roulette picks so often).

The "acceptable" way to limit your dungeon selection on Roulette, is to bring a friend with you who legitimately only qualifies for fewer dungeons. That is somehow perfectly okay, even though it also results in people getting stuck with the lowest level roulette picks so often.

(Frankly, the whole dichotomy starts to remind me of my younger brother, who would insist things such as that it was cheating to look up guides but okay to have someone else look up the same info in the same guide for you. LOL)

Can you use your 1-2-3 combo, pop cooldowns and use AoE? Congratz that alone makes you good enough to do dungeons, bonus points if you avoid aoe, do large pulls and do not beyblade the boss.

You can either lower your item level or use the duty support feature. We should be getting all of Stormblood added to it in 6.4 as Stormblood really was the black sheep of the family as it jumped MSQ for a few patches in the way of dungeons. While also doing the same thing Heavensward did with part of its leveling dungeons with having one be not tied to the MSQ

You can do Shadowbringers and Endwalker dungeons with Duty Support. The npcs will do all the mechanics and teach you the mechanics in a place where players don't have to watch.

If there isn't, what content would you suggest for me? My Gunbreaker is level 84. Should I stick to Fates?
The level 50/60/70/80 roulette doesn't give a lot of experience, but it works. You don't need to know the mechanics very well because the sync isn't very tight.

You could also do 8-person trials and alliance raids, where there are other tanks to handle things if you die.

As you suggested yourself, you can do fates but you can also do beast tribe quests and daily hunt bills.

In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."

Tanking tends to be more challenging at lower levels than at higher. Might be something worth considering.

How to be a decent tank in a few steps.

    1. Remember to trigger tank stance

    2. AoE attacks on mobs

    3. Use both Job and Role mitigation

Do that and you're better than half the tanks instantly.

Tanking for Pugs in dungeons stresses me out, due to the mass-pulll/rush with a group of unknown healers and DPS. While levelling, it's hit or miss if the group can keep up with that number of pulls even if I use all my cooldowns.

I level my tanks in Alliance Raid, Trials, Normal Raid, and Frontline Roulettes. Half the time another tank will pick up primary tank duties anyway and you just essentially become an unkillable/mediocre DPS.

If you want to main tank or play it more regularly though, those roulettes won't teach you the skills of pulling/positioning quite as much as doing it yourself in dungeons. The higher level dungeons are actually easier IMO since they are "straight line" - mass pull/ae/cooldown over and over. ARR dungeons where the maps aren't in a straight line were harder for me than later level ones.

Trusts might be a good option. You can get comfy with small pulls in a low stress environment. Then when you want to jump into DF you'll have that part down.

I got tanking fully under my belt recently and I just had a small macro to say "Healer main getting into tanking. Please excuse me if I falter." YMMV due to DC, but groups on Aether were lovely and very supportive. Try a wall to wall and if it doesn't work, you can always dial it back. Or try small first and if you're good then work up to it. If you've played another role then you'll probably find the things you don't want to see in tanks running in your head and you'll be aware enough to try to avoid them.

It really does. Go around 90 tanking then get a lower dungeon where I don't have HoC and it can get hairy.

The best way queue as low-level job or have a friend join you that has a very low-level job.
