Actually, the Echo is not time travel but memory manipulation. You don't literally jump to a point back in time to alter what happened but instead you put yourself in the target person's memories of what happened at that time that can be changed.Meteor hits, much of Eorzea is devastated... and your character wakes up decades in the future. You've been in the Echo all this time. Surprise!
Actually, that opens the door to some interesting speculation. Can your character use the Echo while already in the Echo and just keep going further into the past? Hmmm.
That's why it's pretty much possible to have an Echo within the Echo. Because if this theory holds true (what I believe it does) then you are looking within the memories of someone who used the Echo, and said person definitely rememers what he saw in the other's memories.
Act in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of another, always at the same time as an end and never simply as a means
Nah, since that would fall into client...as cutscenes are clientside (real time rendering) so it wouldn't be a server limitation of sorts since the files reside on your PC atm unless they plan to show a lot of characters/NPC then it would be xD.
True, Elexia!(。・`ω´・)

Right there that should tell you that Summoner is planned an on its way sometime in the future. Thus, hello deciple of Magic.
If you're looking for another complete reworking of THM/BLM, it's not happening. They'll probably tweak the job a bit to make other spells more useful for specific circumstances, and of course you'll get new abilities related to Classes/Jobs as the levels go up, but buy in large, if you're not used to or don't like the system, you're probably not going to like it in the future either.
For all roles, there's a slight devide of interest when it comes to Classes and Jobs. Jobs in particular are going to stem from classes, of course, but it means all mechanics of corrisponding jobs are going to have to first relate to a standard class.
For example, Archanist's abilities are going to not only be stand alone on their own, but also set the foundation for multiple jobs to split from. This gets more interesting and difficult when you add the concept of pet jobs and pet commands - do they add one 'pet class' from which the pet jobs stem from, or are pet commands going to function like the 'throw' ranged command and be universal so long as conditions are met?
Given the fact that any detail relating to future mages or mage functions will seriously allude to new jobs and classes, I doubt you'll hear a peep from then.
Onto lore:
I have zero expectations and speculations. I'd prefer to just bear witness.
@Nix
People will take days off for concerts, baby showers, movie openings, get-togethers, races, car shows, collector's shows, expos and that's all fine.
- But taking a day off for a major milestone date in your favorite hobby is wrong because that hobby just happens to be video games?

I think we as players are currently using the Echo and reliving the 7th umbral era. When we log into ver 2.0 a CS will play out where we witness the "radical changes" while under the influence of the echo. We'll snap back to our present day Eorzea post umbral era and start our new adventure in the world.
This would be worse than the plot twist in Star Ocean III.I think we as players are currently using the Echo and reliving the 7th umbral era.
