Sometimes I'll not figure out what in the eff broke my portrait even if I didn't really change anything. I go in, hit the arrow for the next background, hit the back arrow for the background I was using, save. Makes it easier. It's such a pain if I forget to do that.
Agreee! Just have the 'default' be a general portrait with whatever you're wearing right now.
SE: They sure love the new portrait system. I'm going to make them love it even more next update.
This is what I end up doing most of the time. Haven't failed me yetA bit long winded but.. this works 99% of the time if for some reason it's not working.
1) Remove a piece of gear
2) Update gear set
3) Open Portrait
4) Edit + Save
5) Put piece of gear on
6) Update gear set
7) Open Portrait
8) Edit + Save
Done.
This is what I do when the "normal way of how it's supposed to work" just doesn't work.
Don’t glam accessories. That’s what I’ve done and it’s worked like a charm. So I thought I had the applying instant portraits process down, but I still get the surprise default portrait at times. It's got me going in unsynced dungeons just to make sure they apply properly, but it's a hassle.
Has anyone found an infalliable way to apply them correctly?
Why can't they just decouple Instant Portraits from your glamour dresser and simply have them reflect your current job's glam? It would be so much simpler and reliable.
I just turned all the sets to Instant Portrait: Off, and it just displays what I'm wearing as that set at the time. No screwing around with it.
"The internet is a bubble dominated by the loudest, most unrepresentative voices; an infinitesimally small minority of a minority which, deaf to reason and the opinions of others, deludes itself that somehow it is the voice of the majority. An infinite echo chamber of shrieking, witless banality."
"Outside obvious jokes/sarcasm, I aim to convey my words to the future readers who may come across mine posts. Can I change -your- mind, somehow? Potentially... but that's not why I'm writing. You and I have wrote our piece(s). We don't necessarily need to change each other's mind. But we can change other's."
I mostly do the same thing except I just toggle the weapon. Before I do that, I queue for satasha unsynched, if my portrait is how I want, I don't need to fiddle with it anymore and leave. Its like holding up a mirror.A bit long winded but.. this works 99% of the time if for some reason it's not working.

It is so scuffed. I didn't change a single piece of gear on my WAR and just retrieved spiritbonded materia and it loaded up the default portrait. The next time I went into an instance I edited the portrait beforehand and it still reverted to the basic. Like God damn.
