Yes, those things look like they could be inspirations for the glamour.
But then you have this.
There's "looks like it could be inspiration" and then there's "looks like they found this picture and copied the outfit with minimal alterations".
those outfits are nothing alike lmao
Lol. I can point out countless differences. If this is enough for you than literally no article of clothing could ever be made again that isn’t close enough to something already in existence by your standards.
The differences are small things that don't stop them from looking extremely similar overall. The ways they look alike are big things – the combination of specific elements, colours, patterned sections, the very distinct mix of plain blue cloth and patterned red hems and highlights.
I don't know whether the Saami Council is properly representative of the culture, or whether it's a fair thing for them to seek money. But I do know that artistically, those are very similar outfits, far more than any of the other images posted above.
But those big things are present in cultures the Saami descend from e.g various cultures of the Great Steppe, there are also other Steppe-descended groups in Northern Europe who wear a similar dress. this is a huge reach your going on tbh.The differences are small things that don't stop them from looking extremely similar overall. I guess we can overlook the fact that the shawl is artistically speaking.. a tartan. I havent heard of Scotland going after the Sami for "cultural appropriation" nor the other way around. I wonder why.The differences are small things that don't stop them from looking extremely similar overall. the whole concept is a little out there. it wasnt done disrespectfully by offering a bikini or speedo version. to me, its a generic northern inspire outfit in a video game. trying to paint it as anything more than that is an unadulterated cash grab attempt. and if they DID get cash, where is that going to be spent? where are they spending the money from Disney? on lawyers? or to help their own community?
not all attention is good attention, and this seems more like over reaching than much else.
The male version shares no similarities apart from color, as the elezen is wearing a dress instead of a shirt and also has no pants. Once again we get a unisex outfit that amounts to cross dressing for male characters.
The female version is a blue dress with a red rim hat and a red shawl. The rest of the outfit is different. No purse, no striped mittens, no striped socks, no white shoes, no pants, no striped sleeves and an extra light blue top over the dress. Far Northern Attire is not an exact copy, it's more like it's inspired by one or more real life outfits.
Is theirs the only culture that came up with, as I called it "a blue dress with a red rim hat and a red shawl"? As I said and as you left out of your quote, that is the only similarity between the digital and real life comparisons.
