I can't comment on that one personally, as I haven't seen or heard of it prior to you mentioning it. So I'll take your word for it. An unfair advantage, technically not cheating because it's not tampering with the game files, but achieving the same result as a reviled hack.

The entire thread got deleted because as I said it was from the controversy with Unnamed, but on the highest resolution, you could literally see multiple times what you could see on a "normal" resolution, including from higher up and on the sides, if this was in the game by default, there would be no need for third party. Maybe its time Square gets the hint that if there are so many mods, its because its needed in the game to make it enjoyable to a further extent, granted some people enjoy it fully vanilla, but a huge amount of the population uses one mod or more.

Do I really need to write it into rules "don't cheat"? Do I also have to have a rule saying "don't be racist" or "don't try to hit on the women in the static"?

Every group is different. If you are a high end raider, why are you posting on an alt account? There is no reason to hide. Clearing high-end content is something to be proud of, no matter how far you do (or don't) get.

Most groups I am in discuss things extensively, but the buck stops at the leader. The very first person who should be informed of anything major, including mods, should be the person organizing things. Then it's on the person in charge to disseminate that information, or not. The whole point of having a leader to run things is to make decisions on behalf of the group. Running things by pure democracy is extremely inefficient and slow, which is why no organization in the world does so in practice. From the smallest eight-person raid groups, to gaming groups spanning over two hundred players across the world, to running a world-renowned business or development team.

Main account is banned from the forums, also have nothing to prove, and people are weird in this game rather keep my forum and ingame life separate. Every group is different, but I am sorry calling BS on a high end group that makes unilateral decisions that greatly impact the rest of the group without input from the team as a successful system for a static. A static is a team, and a leaders job is to provide organization, but not to be the boss make all the choices without talking it over. This is a 100% something if real should have been brought up with the group first and take into account how they wish to proceed.

Even in hardcore world first groups generally speaking their is a council that makes choices on the bases of the group or clan. I have never ran into a group that has lasted where the leader has 100% control over all choices made for the group. For pugs yes I have seen it, but those are often one or two hit wonders. I still going BS on any high end static that has long lasting success where the leader gets to make choices regardless what the group itself wants. That is a quick way to see your group fall apart.

Because to me zooming further out is not cheating. It should be in the game by default. And it already is for people with very high resolutions.

I am willing to put money that come 7.0 we will be able to zoom out even further. UAV will be baseline.

It is only worth zero to you or others that feel cheating is wrong, if they do not feel it is cheating it becomes a point of agree to disagree. If one does not value the opinion of those in power quoting their authority is kind of irrelevant.

Edit: We have seen it many times, take parsing YOSHI-P IS WRONG!!!!!!!!!!! This is what I never understood about this debate:

Person A: Cheating is wrong, you violated the ToS.
Person B: I did not cheat though, the ToS is wrong.
Person A: ToS clearly states . . .
Person B: Don't agree with it ToS is wrong.

This is what this cheating debate largely boils down to, why do we even care at this point.

SE's game. SE's rules.
They are on SE's turf and acting like an elephant in a porcelain shop.

What they do on their own time in their life is up to them, but not here.
If they use such cheats then they're breaking those rules irregardless of 'how they feel' 'what they think'.

There's definitely merit to this argument. Lots of mods in all manner of games address quality of life, or features that would objectively make the game better. Fundamentally I'm not against mods (in a certain other MMO I had like a dozen running, and to be fair they were mandatory to the point of people getting kicked the second they didn't have at least 3 of them), and mods can make many other games awesome. Mount and Blade: Warband is incredibly bare-bones and lackluster without mods for instance.

My personal dislike of willfully breaking the ToS aside, I embrace a live-and-let-live policy on a personal level in-game. I dislike mods, I dislike that people use mods when they're not allowed, and definitely dislike people expecting me to illegally use mods, but they're not bad people by default. And as long as they keep me out of their stuff I'll be content to leave them alone in-game, and stick to making snarky comments on the forums.
