Need advice: static imploding because of cheater.

So was op right to remove the guy from their static? it's their static their choice. However, OP went about it in the most stupid way possible and shot themselves in the foot.
Diplomacy and communication are key to being an effective static leader, you should have talked to your static mates and to the offender to hear their opinions on the situation. This would also better inform your opinion and yes, you should give him a chance to stop using it even if your assumptions would end up being correct, for two reasons 1. you could be wrong about. 2. It's about doing due diligence, crossing your i's and t's it would have made you look more level-headed rather than someone who is rash and on a short trigger. Since this now can affect your future finding replacements due to you having this reputation.

I am still skeptical that OP gave us the entire story. It seems unlikely that after some time of raiding that they just so happened to find out they were cheating and immediately boot/block them without any kind of request to stop or warning of some kind. Especially since they were streaming the mods. It sounds more likely to me that there was some kind of falling out and they are using modding as an excuse to kick someone and that is really why everyone is mad. That is just speculation though, no way to say for sure..

You don't need to know every single mod ever made to explain a general stance against mods as a whole. If you have arguments or counter points to my original statement I would love to address those but now people are just getting petty because they have no good arguments.

The person not having good arguments is you because you dont know the mods you are trying to talk about. My point is that mods like mare have the exact same impact on SE making cosmetics as zoomers have on SE making raids. I think we both agree that cosmetic mods shouldnt stop SE from making cool new outfits. The same logic applies to raids. Some people cheating shouldnt stop them from making raids. It would be a bad decision. Everyone can see this when it's about cosmetics but a lot of people fail to apply that logic to raids.

What is the value in the achievement if it wasn't earned legitimately? I remember playing FFXI and players would use hacks and I didn't want to be part of it. It cheapens what you earn. The same way I wouldn't say I felt good about beating Ninja Gaiden on the NES by way of using emulator save states. I can say that I beat the game, but not legitimately.

Oh boy... only you can answer these questions OP:

- You're the leader, so it's your rules.
- Do you have absolute rules? Or do you put it to a vote.
- If it's absolute and you want no addons: They can deal and leave and you can find new players. Are you willing to do this?
- If it's put to a vote: Does everyone care about the addons? Do you? Should you leave and form a new addon-free static?
- Can you prove that everyone else you're raiding with is not using some kind of addon? Do you care if they keep it to themselves?
- And finally: You're not racing for World First. Do you really care of George the Player is using stuff to clear? Does it affect you?

Anyway... I don't even raid so take my opinion from that perspective.

I asserted that if SE accepted mods that it would force their design team to alter fight design in a way that would alienate people who don't use mods. Similar to the way WoW runs now. You then asserted that it was no different than cosmetic mods, and I assumed then you were trying to make the argument that if you accept one then you have to accept the other. So what part? The widely accepted? or do you think the SE outfit design team is considering mods when making their content? If it is with cosmetics I was talking in the sense of their current state not what mods could become, but that is why I don't have issue with SE enforcing bans on cosmetic mods. I don't want to see any of it normalized even if most cosmetic mods are currently victimless.

I feel like this is kind of irrelevant as long as Square has a firm stance on not adding anti-cheat. Even if fights were made as braindead as possible that a 5 year old could clear, it's not going to stop the existance of plugins or people using them.

Which should neither be encouraged nor condoned. Cheating is cheating. No grey area.
