Players are circumventing difficulty by using mods, meaning if the design teams wants to make truly difficult content they would need to account for players having mods making the game easier. They obviously dont want to do this as it would force players who dont use mods to get them to complete content. This is why WoW is the way it is. It is correct, people modding in completely new outfits is making the creation of outfits on behalf of SE just as pointless as third party tools do for raids. You cant have it both ways or you just sound like someone trying to mental gymnastics their use of cosmetic mods being okay.

SE isn't going to start ramping up raid difficulty because some members of the raiding community choose to use third-party tool. Besides, the zoom thing and Cactbot, the two most egregious raiding third-party tools, still can't play the game for you. Someone that sucks is still going to suck while using third-party tools, and someone that doesn't suck will continue not sucking regardless of whether or not they are using third-party tools. I don't personally support the use of crap like Cactbot, but I'm not going to sit here and pretend like it's some kind of awful plague upon the game. It's a personal choice players can make, nothing more.

I have to say that third party tools are an all or nothing too. Because if SE takes action or something it's going to look for everything. So people can't separate any of them. However, being that XIV isn't really a competitive game I don't think this sort of stuff is the game killer people are making it out to be.

Even ults are not competitive, they are for personal enjoyment, whether people make a race out of it or parse the fight that isn't official SE stuff, so competition just isn't in the intended design of the game.

The mods you use to make yourself look different don't affect what other people see. If it made the outfits your wearing visible to others they would absolutely have issue with it. You sound like someone who just doesn't want to accept the fact mods are cheating.

It was a kneejerk reaction that affected 6 other people. You could and should have talked about with the person itself as well as the other 6 that would get affected by whatever decision you made.
You could've also told the member that you ended up kicking that you'll have no things like zoomhacks in this static and give them a chance to simply stop using it and it would've been fine.
Decisions like these need to be discussed with everyone.

Your correct they are not going to ramp up the difficulty BECAUSE they are taking a no tolerance policy on mods. My argument was that IF they decided to accept mods then they would also have to change their method of design similar to WoW's. The issue is that it is a slippery slope. If SE accepts it then it becomes ok and the problem gets worse. Think of it like steroids in sports, sure some players use it in secret now but if the league said it was ok to use it would become almost mandatory to compete.
