also i see a lot of delusional people replying you deserved it, you don't, they cheated, it has consequences, the ones quitting most likely also cheated by the sounds of it.

Raiders in WoW also do mythic with addons, and their achievements are not worth any less, it's not like the game plays itself for you, and I dont see how a "zoom hack" is going to suddenly make you the best player and make the content easy to do. If a person is bad, they are bad, and a zoom hack wont help them.

big difference is, in WoW it has LONG been a virtual REQUIREMENT to have mods. one of the most pleasant things in coming to FFxiv was that you didnt need a million mods just to make it playable.

the two are not really comparable in that aspect.

I honestly agree with what you've said overall. However I find the deeper issue to be when cheating in PVE affects other, non-willing players. No one would care if you one shot elden beast with a hacked weapon on your own- but if you suddenly start playing co-op with a friend and they can't wait to fight that really tough boss up ahead and you just one-shot it and they weren't aware you were gonna cheat in the first place, well, they might feel disappointed, and in my mind, understandably so.

While the above example is very exaggerated my point is this: a lot of posters here are defending using cheats because its a personal decision that they say doesn't affect others- but I think it can. Just because you don't feel your personal accomplishment is reduced by someone else cheating does not mean other people feel the same way. OP obviously was upset by having a cheater. I would be upset if I learned someone in my group was cheating as well- as I wouldn't want to possibly be carried by someone who simply has an advantage over me.

As you've said, "This thread specifically is far more about group communication than accepting someone cheating." Agreed. But I think there's accountability to be taken on both sides. OP should've been more clear from the get-go about the rules of the static. But players using cheats should not automatically assume it doesn't affect anyone else but themselves. Its a group effort, and I agree that everyone should be on the same page from start to finish.

I didn't ask for an off-topic personal attack. But personal attacks that are baseless (and laughably incorrect in this case), and also have nothing to do with the thread, seem to be supported by some of the low-brow on these forums.

If they were streaming and using mods at the same time they are just asking to get banned. We and SE don't want to have to create content with the mindset that players will need to use mods in order to complete the content. Normalizing the use of mods is bad. Cosmetic mods are widely accepted because they have no bearing on the design team at SE and how they create content. If the goal of the SE team is to make difficult content but the content they create is too easy because of mods then it becomes a problem. Forcing players to use mods is a way of gatekeeping new players. It creates a barrier of entry in the learning process that is not good. Creating fights around mods is a terrible design decision. Mods are in the hands of creators outside of SE so you have no control over what they can or cannot do. Fights in the future may become impossible if the mod loses support. It also becomes really hard to argue what is acceptable to not acceptable, eventually leading to mods that actually do play the game for you. This all is the reason for the no tolerance policy on mods. They can't really stop you unless you publicize your use of it but to keep the game in a desirable state they have to try.

If your friends don't understand this and think it's harmless then that is on them. I would just point out that if they want to keep pushing the issue you could report his/her stream. It also sounds like more happened than OP let on. To ban/block without any kind of request doesn't sound like something someone does to a friend they have been playing with for awhile.
