u did the right thing. u should also report them to the local authorities so they can be tried for their crimes.I lead a raiding static, we are doing TOP and got to phase 3. Alt character for anonymity purposes
Recently a member streamed and showed himself using a zoomhack, so I swiftly and immediately kicked him from the static, reported him and blocked him.
Yet now after 3 days trying to find a replacement, some members of the static started arguing with me and 2 of them left.
They say that it was petty of me to eff over the progress of 6 other people just to get rid of a cheater.
They say that it's okay that he cheats because he kept to himself and never talked about it.
My other raiding friends also told me what I did was a really bad idea.
So now the group that was going so well is breaking apart and it's my fault, however I don't think I did anything wrong, cheating is forbidden by the ToS.
ACT in and of itself, with no plugins, is a glorified packet sniffer. Last I'd used it, it intercepted combat data between client and server and parsed it.As I can find ( and maybe you can help here )..it seems FFLogs takes its data from a third party program that isnt allowed in TOS. It doesnt take data from the game itself...you need a 3rd party program to get that to work.
So you tell me. is it?
Stormpeaks: if you were arguing in good faith Id continue..............but you arent.
We disagree, leave it there.
Later. Im busy.
Iirc, ffxiv does not write to a combat log file, which is why there's a tool that does it.
It's a breach of ToS, but a default, completely basic ACT install is the absolute least problematic of third party tools.
The fact it can alter packets going to the server though should you want to, is a problem, however. This is where plugins for it come from.
I would absolutely love to see someone try to get someone arrested for using add-ons in a video game. Cops would laugh in your face for wasting their time.
Really hope that's a joke cause if not...waow.
Yoship is not an infallible god, he can be wrong and in this case he very likely is. Unless he just doesnt consider ACT a forbidden third party tool which at this point is a fairly likely assessment considering what they punished and what they havent. Not every third party tool is cheating either, both are forbidden by the TOS but they're not the same. There's one thing I kinda agree on though: you technically do not need ACT to improve. A functioning brain will tell you that using you cooldowns as often as possible and not standing around doing nothing will improve your damage output. Will you end up at the most damaging rotation? Probably not, for that you (or someone else) will need to use ACT.Yet YoshiP has said that all encounters can be beaten without any third party programs, the game and all raids etc are exhaustively tested. I think i know which to listen to.
Are you saying he is wrong?
Either way, my stance remains. I will stand or fall on my own merits, no triggers, no parsers, no callouts..I will improve as times goes on, you can improve without addons, by practice, listening, learning...whether or not you approve makes me no never mind.
WOW is heavily invested to the point that anyone who plays that game is DEPENDENT on a load of addons .
FF 14 isnt.
The game and all its encounters can be defeated in a Vanilla UI. In that sense, FF 14 is a very good example of "bring the player, not the class".
Still, you have so far failed to present proof that the people telling others to play better are the exact same people that use cactbot or whatever. As long as you fail to do so but continue your sweeping accussations your posts will be without merit.
I highly doubt that, given his background and track record in the gaming industry over decades. Sorry, but unless you can match his credentials and his track record, not buying it.Yoship is not an infallible god, he can be wrong and in this case he very likely is.
They havent gone full ham. Yet. Remember what I said about anti cheat systems? Go read up on what they do and how intrusive they can get....Unless he just doesnt consider ACT a forbidden third party tool which at this point is a fairly likely assessment considering what they punished and what they havent.
I prefer open honest error in gaming rather than having a program tell me what to use and when..thats taking the initiative and control taken out of my hands..playing it for me. No thank you. There's one thing I kinda agree on though: you technically do not need ACT to improve. Anyone that even mentions it to me gets an instant report.Probably not, for that you (or someone else) will need to use ACT.
Okay Ill put it this way:Still, you have so far failed to present proof that the people telling others to play better are the exact same people that use cactbot or whatever. As long as you fail to do so but continue your sweeping accussations your posts will be without merit.
If you use addons, dont tell me to "improve" when you do so using programs you should not have AT ALL.
When you have information and advance callouts on mechanics and boss abilities you should not have AT ALL.
"I dodged the mechanics better than you"..because you used a 3rd party program you should not have to warn you ahead of time.
The JP datacentres clear rate on savage and ex alone makes that statement a laughingstock, as the vast majority play on console.Yeah you are something else, there is literally no way to improve without third party tools
If you use these addons, triggers, callouts, zoom hacks, mechanics warnings... then you arent a better player than me, you're just better at cheating.

Oh so when it's you presenting baseless claims that's fine, but when someone else makes what you feel like are baseless claims then you want proof, okay sure buddy.I highly doubt that, given his background and track record in the gaming industry over decades. So you are against anti cheat software then. I wonder why
It's not taking the control out of your hands at all. ACT is literally just showing you damage numbers, numbers that you technically have access to ingame. Analyzing with them with excel would be more of a hassle than with ACT but by no means impossible. Choosing to improve on it or not is your agency. If you wanna use evil cheaters as coping mechanism relieving you of the guilt over playing badly that's also your choice.
All job rotation guides are going to be fact checked by ACT. (I wonder if you are more averse to fact checking or to ACT)
You keep saying 'if you use addons dont tell me what to do' in scenarios where you simply have failed to establish that the other player is using addons. You are using it as general defense which only makes sense if you assume everyone who is better than you is cheating. (And even those people that you consider cheaters are still likely better players than you regardless.)
TLDRI highly doubt that, given his background and track record in the gaming industry over decades. Sorry, but unless you can match his credentials and his track record, not buying it.

Let me not improve and be happy with what I am doing ! If you want me to improve it's because you're bad !
