Zenos will return in 7.0

To be honest, I half expected him to have been completely erased at first. The spell he cast at the cost of his life seemed like the kind of thing that would also consume the soul's aether. To later encounter him in the aetherial sea was a neat little surprise. He may not get brought back, but I have a hard time thinking SE will never use him again. Even if it's only in image or memory, he's bound to make an appearance somewhere down the line.

In the name of the 12 and all that is goid and holy let that b......d stay dead. In my headcanon i didnt fight him to death, i just turned around and left him to rot stranded there.
He has outstayed his welcome and i dont want to fight him ever again, like ever.

That reminds me, I've been kicking around a crackpot theory for a while that Golbez is actually a shard of Emperor Varis.

It'd certainly be a WAY more interesting twist than Golbez being a shard of the WoL.

At least I have an alt that looks mostly like Papalymo. o^o
So he is alive!

But for real, I know the chance is incredibly low, but I have my hope. I saw some 1.0 cutzenes. He was sometimes really funny. In the starting cutzenes he got carried from Yda to save him, saying: "Put me down!". I remembered this, when Thancred carried Yda away from Papalymo, to save her, in Papalymos last cutzene, while she says almost the same words like Papalymo in the 1.0 startingcutszenes. "Put me down!". :'(

I don't know why they decided to kick him out but maybe just because they don't wanted two blackmages in the long run. Papalymo was thaumaturge. And maybe they decided to just keep Y'shtola. Otherwise Papalymo would have needed a new job I guess. But of course I don't know what they thought. But I didn't like what they did with him and that his sacrifiy got much less attention compared to other Npcs who passed away.

I also think that it's very sad what happend with Minfilia. But that's another different story.

I like it that the game has enough depth that people care about the characters. That's a positive thing in FFXIV imo. : )

Id argue he is one of the best characters
Sometimes less is more. He had a Motivation, and we didnt need to be spoon fed some dramatic Justification for it, I didnt need to be convinced of anything or take his side, he was simple and straight forword, and I personally loved that.
He didnt care about Politics, he just wanted a good fight, and the 2 of us (Zenos and the WoL) were the only ones that could provide that for eachother.

The only character in this game that Id argue has been a waste, is Papalymo
