If Zenos comes back... they are fresh out of ideas. They've done well with introducing other characters so they shouldn't shy away from something new.
Zenos will return as part of the 6.5 Hildebrand quest. After watching Hildy do his thing, Zenos decides he was better off dead and throws himself into the sun.
Still gets added to the closing dance number, though.
I want this partly because it sounds hilarious and partly the forums will implode over that.

No! seal Zenos' soul in my weapons so I can fight with him forever! D':
It's possible there was nothing left within him to facilitate dissolution. If Zenos used up the aether of his soul in that fight, then he would be well and truly gone; his body naught but an empty shell. Hydaelyn lasted long enough after completely draining herself to share a few parting words (and a gift for the WoL) with the Scions, so it stands to reason Zenos would be able to hang on long enough for a brief exchange as well.
Admittedly Hydaelyn did dissolve after her death, but her body was also made up entirely of aether. Zenos' body is quite physical, and he was nowhere near anything resembling a lifestream to which he could return even if his soul is still intact.

It's possible but after Gaius (and Koji flat out admitted that was a retcon) I'm suspicious anytime we don't see the body dissipate now. It's possible there was nothing left within him to facilitate dissolution. The whole dissolving into aether thing has never been consistent anyway. More than anything, it's depended on whether we needed a body around for the following scenes or not.
its possible considering they keep referring to him in current content
He's died before. He got better.

"I thought that my invincible power would hold the world captive, leaving me in a freedom undisturbed. Thus night and day I worked at the chain with huge fires and cruel hard strokes. When at last the work was done and the links were complete and unbreakable, I found that it held me in its grip." - Rabindranath Tagore
