Given many members of the raiding community are convinced that most of the player base has two brain cells (each, I think), 2 and 3 are tricky, and 4 and 5 sound tedious rather than toxic.Nah, the requirements to be a successful raider are the following:
1) Meet the bare minimum reqs for whatever type of prog you want to do. Week 1 clear? Better be full pentamelded. Aiming for a week 4-5 clear? Normal raid gear and some of last patch's upgraded tomestone (or uncapped tomestone on a X.0 patch) is probably fine.
2) Have a functioning brain.
3) Find 7 other players with complementary roles and brains. This is the hard part.
4) Be willing to make mistakes and learn from them. This is the part that casuals think is toxic.
5) Make mistakes and learn from them until you know the whole fight.
6) Clear the fight.
Raiding in FF14 doesn't actually require THAT much skill. You just need patience and 7 teammates with brains and most of the rest will happen automatically from there.
