Guys, this is a thread from the Endwalker era. Yes, difficulty was at a low back then. Someone necro'd it from two years back just to make it look like there is an ongoing megathread about this *now*.

I know I know sorry. The point is they have been very cavalier with the casual game. The vibe I get is that they think they can dumb down the casual game almost completely, in the pursuit of keeping people who really just want to play a solo RPG on 'full' story mode, and we will just keep putting up with it. Showing us none of the same consideration they did the more discerning savage clientele. They homogenize jobs to balance high end, because high end won't tolerate them 'not' fiddling with them. They take it interesting stuff like the bouncing fluffys and replace it with a bridge. They add aoe telegraphs to aurum. They HAVE made alliances easier since HW/SB/ShB.That would completely defeat the point of Savage. It's not intended for casual players, or to be cleared without progging. Nevertheless, they didn't "f with the casual game." Normal has always been incredibly easy because it's meant for everyone, be they casual or simply story players who don't want anything with actual bite. I don't like that philosophy, but it's been their approach for a long while now.
When they should be, "oh my god the casuals are getting pissed off. Well we can't have that. No choice but to make it harder. Story super casuals will just have to make do because we can't upset or casual MMO game players"
Changing dungeons for solo was unacceptable. No excuse. It did not require ground breaking software techniques, they just cheaped out and new we'd put up with it.
But it's been death by 1,000 cuts and I'm done.
They wouldn't have to fix everything to get me back. But they would now have to tread on egg shells with me. No more tone deaf F ups like Chaotic. The new relic zones had better be spot on. (If theyve watered it down and made it easy that would be a F up)
Changing picto to remove it's downtime advantage would be a F
up.
They NOW need to not mistep at all.
And taking little wins here and there to provide some more casual-midcore and make midcore like extremes more ', 'relevant' than 100/50 (whatever) clears for a mount in the future, an unarguably ridorana 2nd boss level raid, these actually quite little things would start to make a difference.

This thread might be old but the topic is still one that comes up in discussion fairly regularly, hence people continuing to discuss it after the necro here.
"Guys, stop talking about it because it looks like people are talking about it" is a very interesting take.
No, it's fine for people to discuss the same topic now, but borrowing the nearly 40 pages and tens of thousands of views this thread accumulated back when this was a much bigger issue than it is now, is just a cheap attempt to dwarf topics of discussion that are actually more hotly debated among players right now.

Generally, when someone posts something that's been posted a million times before on a forum, they're told to use the search function and post in an existing thread instead of starting a new one.
If people are still discussing it, it's because it's still an issue. The fact that it's an on-going discussion that has been taking place over the course of several expansions doesn't really change anything.

On its own that is a fair point, but since the game already did something to raise difficulty going from EW to DT (mostly speeding things up and arena spam, but okay), that kind of renders the first 37 pages of this thread irrelevant because they're discussing fixes to a balance from a state in which it already no longer exists.
There are times it just isn't useful to just pad the new onto the old.
Imagine buying a current-year model Mercedes and your car manual starts with the instructions on engine maintenance and cranking to start the T-Ford, and goes through every model and make of consumer car ever built before it starts in the last few pages to provide information that is actually relevant to the present and the thing you actually have?
Isn’t this directly contradicting what the devs have said though? They’ve stated before that they vastly prefer one ‘mega thread’ about the same issue over 10 individual threads doing the same thing. On its own that is a fair point, but since the game already did something to raise difficulty going from EW to DT (mostly speeding things up and arena spam, but okay), that kind of renders the first 37 pages of this thread irrelevant because they're discussing fixes to a balance from a state in which it already no longer exists.

And as I mentioned I feel like saying whether the ‘actual difficulty’ has been ‘raised’ is something debatable in and of itself, so I’d say the topic is still relevant enough to the OP. And I mean, even if it was necro’d just to troll, i don’t think the actual thread itself and how it relates to current design are suddenly made irrelevant because of those ill intentions. Like it doesn’t necessarily mean there’s definitely nothing left to say about the issue

That was about having multiple concurrent threads, like how currently the discussion about Chaotic is split over some five threads replicating roughly the same discussion and the same arguments for and against, not split over multiple expansions when people in the early pages are not even talking about the same game as in the later pages.
Like I said, there are times when you want one megathread, and there are times when you shouldn't just pad the old with the new.
Yeah, from how I phrased it earlier you can read between the lines that I'm not exactly finding DT's normal modes challenging either, so if the devs say they made it harder I'll read that as it has probably been by some smaller percentage that is only noticed by people who were closer to marginal before. Players as ahead of the curve as you or me are still going to find it easy, but if it were raised to a level where it's a challenge for us to clear, there'd be SO many people unable to progress story mode.
Casual content in Endwalker and Dawntrail are not drastically different. Almost all of the criticisms of Endwalker content hold true today. On its own that is a fair point, but since the game already did something to raise difficulty going from EW to DT (mostly speeding things up and arena spam, but okay), that kind of renders the first 37 pages of this thread irrelevant because they're discussing fixes to a balance from a state in which it already no longer exists.
