As much as I occasionally enjoy dragging teams kicking and screaming through fights, playing res roulette and all...

It's not worth it. The average player isn't going to improve. This is the game's current audience as it is and you're going to have to adjust your expectations.

People pay for access, to which they have. That's the only wall, bank balance
Yet if you paid to see a concert and were only allowed to see it if you passed a series of tests you'd demand your money back. Or paid to go see an amusement park and had your access restricted to only a segment youd be just as angry..and would demand your money back.

Just a quiet reminder..the people you want to see gatekept out of content are the same ones whose money PAYS for your savage, extreme raids etc ( which cost a boatload to create, design and develop.

I saw this entitled attitude back when WOW released LFR...

This is absolutely the attitude and language that, in this community, needs to go sit in the corner for a while. If you can't stand the thought of there being multiple difficulty tiers of content -- into which we pour a lot of our development efforts -- to make raiding feasible for more than 2% of players, hit Heroic mode, turn on vent, and repeatedly remind your friends how good you are. I have no doubt they care
You are NOT entitled to others money, they are not there to pay for your fun.

To be fair, I doubt most people are asking for normal content to be anywhere close to that difficult.
    Actually they are.

I know we have a very diverse player base, coming from all kinds of different games and MMOs. But this is still a Final Fantasy game, which means a good chunk of people are here for the story/MSQ first and foremost. There’s harder content for those that want it. You’re going to be interacting with people of all skill levels through the MSQ. That’s just a given. As a “better” player you can be gracious and kind, and maybe even try to help, or you can grit your teeth and bear it, and visit Tales from the Duty Finder after.

Personally I feel they do difficulty in the wrong way in this game.

Mechanically a lot of encounters are difficult enough. Sometimes annoyingly so when you have fights designed to bait you into getting killed on your first run, just so the healers have to chain rez and it "feels" difficult. Other times the mechanics are interesting but don't really hurt much if you fail them.
The issue here is always the same. You go in, get whacked about by mechs on week 1, win anyway, learn the trick to it, then every run after that is pure snoozefest.

On the other hand fights rarely scale in damage taken and dps required. In fact they seem to decrease, Expert Dungeons tickle and 8 man normals can be effortlessly solo healed with oGCD's. And enrage timers simply don't exist outside of EX and above and very rare cases. We don't really need to give Normal complex endgame level one-shot mechanics. I'd just like to see things hit harder and have a moderate dps requirement, so you need to be playing your job semi-correctly and can't afford lots of deaths.

FF14's difficulty is always in mechanics and rarely in playing your job and mechanics are only difficult as long as you don't know the trick, unless they go for sensory overload and combine 3-4 mechanics and a "find the safe spot" puzzle simultaneously.

    Actually they are.
People do leave mid concert and some people are denied entry to some rides.

So yes, that get access but they can still get restricted

I am ok with that. I think XIV has plenty of hard as well as easy content. If anything it could use more content somewhere in the middle.

Criterion (hard mode version) is much more difficult than any extreme in this game xD. It is definitely not intermediate level content.

It also rewards nothing. There is zero reason to ever set foot in it.

I hate getting Dead Ends in roulette. There's something on the order of a 25% chance any given time I queue into it that I'm going to have to solo the second or last boss. That place has a better K/D ratio than most raids, I swear.
