I just closed an in-game support ticket (22359063) and I found the experience to be extremely frustrating and ultimately disappointing. First, finding the correct method to contact a GM when you need a response for anything other than Harassment requires a search and some luck. That needs to be easier, and having a GM message me would have been preferable to back and forth emails.
My issue was that I purchased a Manderville relic weapon while I already had the same weapon in storage on a retainer. These are unique, so you shouldn't ever be able to have more than one. In fact, if you already have one in your inventory, you can't complete the quest again. This makes perfect sense. It does not check retainers apparently so I used the fact that I could complete the quest to determine whether or not I had the item, which also is not particularly odd behavior when you're going through trying to get all the weapons.
I feel this is a bug in that the game should not allow you to purchase two of a unique item... by definition. I could only receive a refund of the manderville meteories if I accepted this would be the one and only time I would ever receive an item reimbursement. I ended up deciding to throw it away without a refund to save this 'favor' for some future possibility when I might need it for something that was harder to obtain than 1500 astronomy tomes. I shouldn't have had to make that choice.
I have two major issues with this.
First, I believe my problem was caused by a bug and not some careless throwing away of an item, so fixing it shouldn't be considered a once in a lifetime favor.
Second, this game is ten years old, I have been playing for years, and I plan to keep playing. Accidents do happen and it simply isn't reasonable to only be able to receive support from SE a single time, ever. I urge this policy to reflect something more generous.
