Mortal Fist
i thought they already disabled it due to the war in ukraine i dont remember them ever turning it back on
It's the right thing to do, but I'm sure someone out there is going to complain about it :/
They turned it back on with 6.3's release.
I think Feb 24th is when the 45 day timer would expire for those who haven't reset the demolition timer on their house since it resumed.
The problem is that the underlying housing system is dogshit and auto demolition was a necessary evil to keep players active or reclaim their plot so someone else could use it. Circumstances aside, constantly disabling that system defeats the purpose of it. It spent a year disabled due to the war in Ukraine and is now disabled again after a month. I appreciate Square Enix wanting to give a gesture of good will to players that might be impacted but if they really want players to not lose things, actually build a housing system that guarantees everyone a house.
I also think it's fair that active players, potentially those that have spent months trying to get a house or move up to a larger plot (of which there are less), might be annoyed by this. The one mechanic that's designed to keep housing plots available if players go inactive, regardless of why, probably shouldn't be disabled as much as it has been historically.
Also, before anyone claims salt, I have a personal housing plot. Lich, Ward 26, Plot 12.
While both situations are rather unfortunate, I think the blame is in the incorrect place. SE should be adding more wards, but the majority of current wards are mostly for FCs. Trying to accommodate both FCs and private buyers just doesn't help the situation in the long run, especially when FC's who have housing are being traded away for RMT and gil.The problem is that the underlying housing system is dogshit and auto demolition was a necessary evil to keep players active or reclaim their plot so someone else could use it. There's also this issue of many FCs holding multiple houses due to the older system. Why isn't SE demolishing those houses? It's punishing the playerbase. I think it's the correct choice to pause demolition on Chaos/Light until things become better.
What they should be doing is dividing the wards in "tabs" I guess, where one is only for private buyers and another only for FCs.
Turning demo off in situations like this is just SE taking responsibility for the awful system they created. It's not the player's fault that these incidents happen. The problem is that the underlying housing system is dogshit and auto demolition was a necessary evil to keep players active or reclaim their plot so someone else could use it. "We made a crappy design that limits supply in the face of the demand we'd have, which has been growing as our game gets more popular. So instead of reworking the system or having better supply, we punish players who managed to enter."The problem is that the underlying housing system is dogshit and auto demolition was a necessary evil to keep players active or reclaim their plot so someone else could use it. If it is only for Chaos and Light thats fine because they are most likely affected by the earthquake. No need to suspend demolition for everywhere else.
