Ever since Ninja came about back in 2.0, I always wondered why Dragoon didn't have fall resist like Ninja after jumping from a certain height that would cause damage to your character.
Does anybody know why this is?

Originally they did, but SE took it away when the floor tank memes started. Few people noticed but it’s in the patch notes way back in HW
I've always felt that they should be invincible when jumping because they aren't on the ground when an aoe hits.
In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."

I mean if you want to look at in a technical fashion, the point of the Dragoon job is to take the force from those falls an turn it into the damage inflicted on the target, they are not meant to take the force of their own attacks onto themselves. Ninjas however are meant to be lithe and quick on their feet so they would train in a fashion to distribute their weight to minimize impact from falls while Dragoon is supposed to do the opposite, they want their falls to have force behind them.
EDIT: That being said, fall damage is more like an accident, people can do things that are normal in their profession all the time and still somehow end up injured so yeah, ninjas are prepared to deal with fall damage whist dragoons are not because for dragoons to do so is them intentionally holding back.

That makes alot of sense. Particularly for the lore of Dragoons and Ninjas.I mean if you want to look at in a technical fashion, the point of the Dragoon job is to take the force from those falls an turn it into the damage inflicted on the target, they are not meant to take the force of their own attacks onto themselves. For how the Dragoon meme came about, Estinien must have been shaking his head in shame for how could so many of his fellow Dragoons die in so many varying embarrassing ways. xD
should Dancers take fall damage because their kind of like a ninja light on their feet and nibble.
Make a backwards jump from a cliff and you won't have fall dmg.
Wait, Dragoons used to have self-damage when they use their jump skills in HW? That has to be the stupidest thing Ive ever heard about this game.
