    Enrage timer visibility

What do you think of fan enrage timer visibility whether on the side of the screen or beside the boss HP? Would it be helpful or harmful and why?
I'm just asking because I learned that a MMO has it as an official feature to track the enrage counter against the boss HP and thought it cool.

It's not a bad idea and I see where you are coming from, but seeing the enrage timer is not going to lead to more success. If anything it might cause undue stress. You already know when the boss is going to enrage based on where they are in their mechanic timeline. The bosses are very scripted and because of that you practically always know how far or close you are to wiping or clearing. Don't need a gauge for that.

A displayed timer would be redundant here. Generally, mechs happen x amount of times before you get an enrage. In EX5, the second immolation is followed by one final pair of pie puzzles before the enrage nuke is cast.

I feel like this would end up making a lot of people give up early. If there's an easy way to suicide in the fight then it'll just end up being like: "Oh, we're not on schedule to beat enrage. Alright, everyone jump off the platform, let's start over."

It's irrelevant in this game because fights are scripted. The mechanics mostly happen in the same order and once you've seen the fight, you know exactly when the enrage cast is going to happen and it becomes muscle memory. It always comes after the script of mechanics that happen near the end.

It's also irrelevant because we know roughly how long it takes until enrage in most battles. 9-14 minutes, except obviously ultimates, because they are not simple 10 minute fights with a single boss. But even then once you've seen enrage you know exactly when it's coming.

If mechanics were completely random, it would be hard to train your brain to expect enrage after a certain pattern of mechanics and the feature would be more important, but they just aren't that random here.

In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."

In case people consider this not true, it is true. And for a very specific reason:
You can compare the stats of the 2 (health, enrage progress).

In a lot of games with 2 tracking stats, people will constantly compare these 2 and use this as a measurement, you must always be ahead. But this is usualy not how it works. Even after a damage rotation, you might be behind, but due to cooldowns recharging, and the boss doing an animation (where the enrage pauses), the next part after you can suddenly boost ahead again.

A normal person wont care too much about it and look at it as a sort of assistance, but there are also people who will instantly call a failure upon reaching behind. And its those people that are a major issue causing even more stress. They will cause negativity to exist in the team (which normaly causes a downward spiral).

Especialy when people are new, they will either be looking at it as 'this is impossible' (which at that time they already should expect anyway), or also try to constantly beat that line (which again is not how you properly learn). This only takes focus away from learning the mechanics. Once you know enough mechanics and reach that final state where you can see it charge up, you already start to have a good idea anyway, and know most mechanics. At that point it comes down to optimizing, and while such line can help at that, its the earlier steps that are a problem here.

Maybe however for older raids it might be a welcome tool to have. As especialy when overgeared, the expectation to be ahead most of the time is more realistic.

With how the game is designed this is essentially just asking for a time display on individual attempts. Sure, why not. This isnt going to really do anything about enrage specifically, rather it's going to help you remember what mechanic is coming up next before the cast bar shows up.

There are already plenty of instances where an "enrage gauge" is put on the screen in the game. And the sky is not falling.

When Eden's Gate came out, I got my very first E3S kill thanks to the very very very long wind-up animation before the damage happens.
I'd prefer it that players are warned of "enrages" as late as possible, since people throwing themselves off prematurely when the bosses are at sub 1% is kind of troublesome. (Unless it's a case of the boss going invuln, then sure... swan dive away)

Have no feelings about the add-phase kind of enrages though, they're kinda just there

That's sort of a different kind of enrage.
A "do this mechanic before the timer or you'll wipe" rather than a "if the boss isn't dead by the end of this cast you'll wipe".

The former tends to be mid-encounter, where the latter is the full stop end of the fight.
