    This is a bizarre argument, even if it's accurate.

    The Island is not battle content, and frankly, barely counts as content at all. It's like WOW Garrisons but 10 years late, and way more lifeless. Mostly just a browser game.

    V&C is some of the least relevant content that I've ever encountered. If this was some sort of massive resource-sink, why didn't they make it actually have a purpose, rather than being one-and-done checklist content? At least there was motivation and engagement with grinding Exploratory Zones into the ground.

    If SE really has to trade out content like Exploratory Zones in order to be able to make Facebook Island, I have serious questions about both the wisdom of their management, and the resource pipelines that they're allocating. This should not be an either/or situation.

    Impossible, or they just don't want to do Another exploratory zone.

    Man, some people flame the developers for not trying new things, but when they do, some people throw their toys out of the pram.

    10/10 could guarantee if they did another exploratory zone, OP would be crying that it's still the same.

    You are right about the either or situation however they do have a limited budget and you have to remember they are working on the visual upgrade for 7.0 on top of whatever they have unannounced. That might mean they are allocating more elsewhere we don't know their allocations but compared to any other MMO we are always eating healthy. I do agree that V&C needs a heavy work on, however it was a testing ground for them to learn and improve on. Island sanctuary while a bit empty currently is getting an expansion in 6.4 and its constantly being updated beyond that into 7.X and so on...granted that content isn't completely for me I know it caters to a mass amount of casual players that would eat that up big time.

    He's not going anywhere. We were lucky he took a vacation hopefully he'll take another one soon.

    Dunno why they killed Bozja or Zadnor. Probably the best content they ever put out. Although FFXIV does not really have exploratory zones. Absolutely pales in comparison to many MMOS that have points of interest that are off the beaten path like Vanilla WoW or Guild Wars 2.

    FFXIV is a HEAVILY instanced game and as a result you have a lifeless world you don't interact with. It's what makes GW2, WoW, FFXI, LOTRO great where you need to explore the world to do stuff instead of going into instance 264 like it's another game of Monster Hunter.

    What new things? Sweatshop sanctuary? I think we would be fine without that pile of worthless content. FarmVille is more of a sanctuary and 10x more interactive than something Square fucking Enix came up with, what a goddamned disaster. I'm going to be honest with you: yes, I would prefer having more dungeons, trials and another exploratory zone. I like them, many people like them, no need to cut them to introduce some half-baked concepts.

    It was great content, but it gets weary if you embed it into something such as relic systems time, and time again, they're just trying another direction with it, honestly. Or seeing how successful they go with something a little HW-esque.

    Any given concept you incorporate in a game in the initial stages is going to be a WIP with a lot of refinement necessary. If the advocation is that they shouldn't do this and just stick to that which is comfortable then it gets very boring, very quickly.

    Anemos, for example, was very barebones with essentially nothing, absolutely nothing bar over-glorified FATEs in a different zone. This was slightly refined to then incorporate rarer lockboxes e.g., warped lockboxes, and bunny FATEs, which then got refined into a Logos system, something that served the foundation going forward, inc., large-scale raids. Point is, their initial inception was a far cry from something decent. Anemos was a half-baked concept, not unlike Island Sanctuary thus far, which still has the capacity to develop into something quite substantial.

    Speaking as someone who has gone through doing all relics of SB and ShB, I am glad they've taken a break from Exploratory zones unless they can innovate on it enough, which I don't think they can.

    I would love to have more trials or dungeons etc but then once again they are sort of one and done types of content as well...also without actual numbers I bet way more people are playing island sanctuary then we think. Yeah its barebones but they started a foundation...that's like comparing an animal crossing game from its inception to current release, vastly different. If by the Islands expansion nothing has really changed then we can all be in agreement of it being a waste. Its not even about cutting too...the game caters to MULTIPLE demographics....that's not just me and you and our tastes...its funny that...you know trying to widen the net to get more revenue lol.

    Haha beat me too it on what I was getting that lol. It will be like when by 6.5 you'll have 2 more variant dungeons and 2 more criterion and if they can nail the reward structure then that's golden...if not then yeah something we can complain about. People want them to take some risks....they do that and get moaned at.
