I think what the person meant is that people don't have the backbone anymore of taking a insult and whine and cry about it. People need to grow some thick skin and learn how to take jokes once again without feeling insulted. Everyone wants to be serious these days and it isn't a fun world anymore

Its only a fun world when you do what the snowflakes want seemingly. If you don’t agree with their opinions,choices, or pander and cater to them you are a monster because how dare you have your own that are different or dont want things forced on you. Its like when church people show up at your door trying to get you to go to their church.

You definitely don't get a complete and total update to the prohibited activities guidelines with full explication on every single type of conduct in a mostly healthy, mostly positive community.

Seriously though you sound like someone from the sixties angry they cannot use the N-word in public anymore. Sure people do overreact to harmless jests, but this is a MMO. When has that been new? And if people wish to reply to such insults with friendly banter or jestful retorts then good for them. If you are gonna talk crap about someone though, do not be too surprised if people decide to actually say “Hay, not cool.” over playing whatever game with you.

I do think this is a good topic even if it’s meant to rile people up. I find I don’t type much of anything any more because of people’s reactions.

I got kicked out of an alliance raid once after being berated for simply saying “please dodge” to a dragoon who got hit by literally every mechanic. Reamed out for telling a tank how to play when I said “cooldowns please. Need mitigation”.

This isn’t about not being able to be racist, homophonic or sexist like the one poster suggest. That’s a common claim meant to dismiss used by the exact community OP is referring to.

This community has become far too sensitive. Can’t hurt anyone’s feelings. Criticize anything. Burst their tiny bubbles.

But I tell ya, it’s ok when they do it. Because they are on the righteous side of protecting fragile feelings

From what I can see, the TC specifically mentioned insulting and mocking people, specifically in making jokes, not criticising their skill or performance.

Several people have now turned this topic towards receiving backlash from giving constructive criticism, which might be what you want to talk about, but it's not what the TC was talking about. They're two entirely different things, with different arguments. So don't conflate them with comments like: "This isn’t about not being able to be racist, homophonic or sexist like the one poster suggest. So, because Skiros didn't specifically say that people can't take constructive criticism, other people aren't allowed to make mention of it? I wasn't aware conversations weren't allowed to grow and evolve. I also wasn't aware you couldn't use a troll thread to address actual issues. /shrug

I gave up typing in DF for same reason, I just want to get in and out I don't have time for drama and as dumb as it sounds, I rather take a wipe again and again than point out who did what wrong.

yup, because at that point you are a "troll" and now they can be 1000X worse because they're "protecting" the community.

Troll post or not, the online community has definitely changed over the past decade, that is for sure. I made a lighthearted joke the other day about seizures during Ultima Weapon (so bright, such light!) and was told it's not funny and I shouldn't make those jokes.

... I legit had to tell them that I made the joke because I take medication for seizures and I was pointing out the obvious drawback to this cutscene.

People are way too sensitive. This happens in my server real quick sometimes. Someone can make an obvious joke but if there is even a small chance for someone to take offense they will run with it and turn it into this giant crusade.

It’s like people don’t even care about the spirit in which things were meant anymore. All they care about is taking offense, calling others out and virtue signal to the max like it makes them this “hero” in front of everyone else.

And while I can’t completely verify this. It sure seems they don’t even care about the subject, they just like the attention.

I don't know if you'll read this message, or if I'll even see a reply.

But if you ever get an OLED monitor, those bright lights are going to mess with you even more. Holy heck, FFXIV with OLED is intense. I would definitely warn against it.
