#citationneededHow is it a delusion if it is happening? People can mod their appearance to be whatever they want clientside. If they don't care about what other people think, then it doesn't matter to them. Why would they ever buy a fantasia when they can just mod their appearance however they want?
You greatly underestimate the power of vanity. I'm sure there are a handful of people out there that only care what they themselves see, but the vast majority absolutely want to make sure to rub their 293020253rd set of thot glam and character trait choices in people's faces as they prance around the Limsa aetheryte plaza. How is it a delusion if it is happening? Hmm...
A few thoughts:
1.) Third-party tools and mods used by players cannot receive any kind of data from other players, save what the client makes available naturally. You are at no point at risk of any sort of compromise in this regard. Even ACT can't pull the kind of data you seem to be thinking of.
2.) The hell is a Fantasia mod? You can't force the game to give you items. There are third-party tools for temporarily adjusting your character's appearance, but that's entirely client-side - no one else is able to see it.He just said "People can mod their appearance to be whatever they want clientside." so he likely knows there's no server interference going around. So why are you guys saying this?PSA: Plugins and mods aren't the same thing. If you're going to call a community toxic, at least insult the correct one. The toxicity stems from the plugin community, the modding side minds their own business unless someone does something dumb like plaster it on a billboard.Clearly he knows.
The answer's blessedly simpler, Absimiliard: Fantasia Addicts. You greatly underestimate the power of vanity. Tangent but not entirely true. People tend to forget that little ERP mod harassment situation that Yoshi P had to come out against a couple of years ago AND a portion of the modding community is responsible for the datamining that exists (which is how we know about that godly new set that in coming out in the Moonfire faire 2023)
Yeah, I was gonna say, the only mods I can kind of see them going after would be Glamourer and Mare for pretty obvious reasons that could affect their bottom lines.Honestly, this is the only way they'll ever do anything about mods, although it'll probably end up being an all or nothing situation...
I think mare will eventually push them into that situation though. Eventually it'll become a situation of why buy cosmetics on the mogstore when you can install mare, sync with a bunch of other people and have a lot more options.
I'm already at the point where I feel that mare has gone too far, and if all the people posting on the forums about inclusivity actually cared about inclusivity, then they'd probably feel the same way.
I have a hope that eventually mare will evolve to the point where there'll be public servers that people can join for all the cosmetic mods they're wearing to show up to others on the same server, and that it'll get popular enough that new players are advocated to use that instead of bothering with in-game glam. Then SE will definitely take action.
But at the same time, it’s not like they don’t know about those mods. And I’m guessing there aren’t enough people using them to raise any red flags. Which I imagine is because this a sub game and not F2P. So the cash shop isn’t the primary thing keeping the game running.
If this was a f2p game then yeah, those mods would have been eliminated a long time ago lol.
I mean, I have no idea what situation that was so can't comment on it. The ERP mod side is still going strong though.Tangent but not entirely true. I also don't really have an issue with dataminers outside of people using it for profit reasons, like said billboard situation. I'm not one to get stressed out over spoilers.
Nice strawman you made there.Lol, cmon you can't be serious. This can't be what you think it is what people have a problem with players using 3rd party tools for. Surely it's not the one that does rotation for you, the infamous zoom out one, the one that does rotation for you, Tele hacks, the one that tells you where to stand, botting(not even talking rmt here), cheating in cactpot, or anything else. No... ninja madras. Yup that's it.
The vast majority of PC users aren't using any of those programs nor are they the focal point of the thread. In fact, the overwhelmingly popular addons are cosmetic based or QoL like the aforementioned ping programs. Most of the people complaining about third party tools or screaming "won't someone please think of thechildrenconsole players!" are lumping in nonsense like ACT and dress mods that quite literally have zero impact on any form of gameplay.
Hence my response that consoles users upset with the QoL benefits PC users have (not the cheats) should be demanding their inclusion into the game itself and not crying foul at PC users.
Congratulations. You're a drop in the bucket compared to the tens of thousands who would quit overnight if mods and ACT were banned. And that's a very low estimation considering the sheer number of unique downloads many of these programs have nowadays.
I also find it hilarious you think people using nude mods should be arrested. It's one thing to not like them but arrested? Good lord. Even Karens would be telling you to calm down my dude.
"Stand in the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters."
"The silence is your answer."
This aged poorly. lol
That cant happen because of paid mods, so no. And nobody is forcing you to use mods, so just get better friendsHonestly, this is the only way they'll ever do anything about mods, although it'll probably end up being an all or nothing situation...
