Square Enix doesn’t care about saving face in the North American community because they’re not rooted in our culture. As far as Japan is concerned, it used to be that Japanese players didn’t use mods. It was considered disgraceful for end players to use them. Now with Western culture pushing its way eastward, they’re picking up our habits. But by time they do, Square (in usual fashion) will simply stop caring about saving face even in their homeland. It’s a very lazy company, and never underestimate the power of laziness.

It doesn’t even matter if mods can sexualize underage characters, create entirely new races, and steal mogstation items. And as of today, Gshade acts as malware. They don’t care. They never will. Come on, this is SQUARE ENIX.

Anam posing and anything NSFW ERP nudity
Non-combat QOL plugins
Universalis and the Marketboard plugin
ACT stops working. FFlogs activity drops
All QOL Raid tools. Raiding activity drops

Technically Gshade approved by Yoshi

Perhaps console players should demand better from SE instead of crying foul at PC players using addons to fix things like Ninja Mudras that are being ignored three weeks into the release of a new Ultimate.

Lol, cmon you can't be serious. This can't be what you think it is what people have a problem with players using 3rd party tools for. Surely it's not the one that does rotation for you, the infamous zoom out one, the one that does rotation for you, Tele hacks, the one that tells you where to stand, botting(not even talking rmt here), cheating in cactpot, or anything else. 100% they are losing tons of money. People mod in cosmetics instead of buying them, people mod fantasia instead of buying them, people cheat encounters instead of grinding them.

They lose subscribers that found out how bad the cheating is in this game after the omega world first, and they're losing subscribers day by day as they learn that the game has no tamper-proofing. What is going to prevent you from using a third party addon against other players maliciously if square enix isn't doing anything to detect or prevent them? Nothing.

I would say that until square does something about this problem, simply logging into eorzea is a security risk.

On top of all that, it's really just inappropriate to have nude mods. If you want to do that, do it outside of video games, or play an actual adult video game. Bringing that energy into an mmo is insane and you should be arrested for it.

I find it funny how all the players get their panties in a bunch when SE actively does something against the parsers and mods, as if a world is collapsing.

I celebrate everyone who is punished by SE by using ACT, custom launcher or iwelche mods. It's just not wanted by the DEVELOPER and as a player who only "rent" FF14 to play it, maybe you should start respecting what the DEVELOPER says.

Why? What's needed? I cancelled my sub because this game is sketchy and full of self-righteous cheaters. You're getting hacked by your own cosmetic mods at this point. The turd hit the fan. You're in it.

If the modding scene cost Square a significant amount of money, you can bet that they would've cracked down on them AGES ago. If anything mods keep people subbed longer.

Lol I'm gonna have to agree with you on this one. If it were an actual financial danger they would've absolutely done whatever in their power to prevent them. Not saying thats the full reasoning but probably a factor on why the dev team has been lax about it.

I don't think modders understand how good they were at hiding their cheating in this game. It was really surprising what I learned all just within this last short while over the omega protocol cheating scandal. I'm not sure how it happened this hard, but it's never been so published on the internet until now. Especially with yoshi-p making an official statement how there is no grey area and it's all just been rule breakers coping with their mental gymnastics.

How bad is the problem? I don't know, but I know it is bad enough for me to feel unsafe logging into this game personally. There is no anti-tamper in place, there is nothing they do to protect their legitimate players from modders. Even cosmetic mods are including malware at this point. It's different in WoW because it's all officially supported through blizzard's API, but in FFXIV you pretty much have to go to the dark web/discord to get addons. Most of them are extremely sketchy. You shouldn't be surprised if you get identity theft from playing this game.
