Can you imagine how many players would quit if that "FFlogs parsing game" would cease to exist? Tons of people literally live to achieve bragging rights with high percetiles.

good riddance, i used to be one of them in SB. but now all that's done is funnel the raid and job design meta into catering to them. everything is now max-melee-able, everything is 100% uptime. it's so boring. the stuff fflogs discord argues about all day and night is the real cancer of this game.
now people whine and scream if you have to drop a GCD and god forbid a fight has some weird phase push timing or randomness or the fflogs crowd will start screaming about how they have to jump if they don't see dadaluma or fire first.
we truly optimize our own fun away from ourselves. but the developers also should have the guts to ignore the whining from the fflogs crowd. parsing was way more fun when the fights didn't just hand you 100% uptime freely. now it's just a bunch of crit farm junkies.

FF14 sucks because you can't make handsome men like these

Fights shouldnt just give uptime freely or have hitboxes the size of the arena. I doubt however how much the devs were considering the community in that regard because the boss going untargetable for extended periods of time also doesnt strike me as something players want and we keep getting that in major encounters in weird ways.good riddance, i used to be one of them in SB. but now all that's done is funnel the raid and job design meta into catering to them. everything is now max-melee-able, everything is 100% uptime. it's so boring. the stuff fflogs discord argues about all day and night is the real cancer of this game.

Stormblood is considered to have by far the better savage fights but we keep moving away from that. This really might just be the vision of the devs coming out instead of them listening to player feedback.

the devs is pretty much can't do anything with it
Honestly, this is the only way they'll ever do anything about mods, although it'll probably end up being an all or nothing situation...
I think mare will eventually push them into that situation though. Eventually it'll become a situation of why buy cosmetics on the mogstore when you can install mare, sync with a bunch of other people and have a lot more options.
I'm already at the point where I feel that mare has gone too far, and if all the people posting on the forums about inclusivity actually cared about inclusivity, then they'd probably feel the same way.
I have a hope that eventually mare will evolve to the point where there'll be public servers that people can join for all the cosmetic mods they're wearing to show up to others on the same server, and that it'll get popular enough that new players are advocated to use that instead of bothering with in-game glam. Then SE will definitely take action.

That cant happen because of paid mods, so no. And nobody is forcing you to use mods, so just get better friendsHonestly, this is the only way they'll ever do anything about mods, although it'll probably end up being an all or nothing situation...

The issue is more cheats and bots that are the problem. Most things are just cosmetics or making designing houses easier and have no effect on revenue (in fact it might even increase it slightly as some RPers only stay subbed because of the modding community). Bots on the other hand cost the company money as they use stolen accounts or fraudulent credit cards.
Instead of trying to find where to draw the line, it's easier for them to say all third party programs that use or manipulates the game's data is against the ToS.
3rd party fix what SE cannot fix in time. I wish them best of luck. Maybe one day they understand.

The only mods i will ever have an issue with are the rampant ERP/Sex/body Mods that people use.
Every social media site is smothered in them, you can't escape from the horny Gposers anywhere.
if that is the first impression people get of the game, then YES, Square Enix is certainly losing money due to people not wanting to play thinking its a sex/dating simulator.
