    Probably has more to do with what they used to be, Darkside used to be a stance while Surging Tempest was always a buff.

    Because Tank Stance dancing was removed, they threw it into the job gauge because Dark Knight actually doesn't have any mechanics that would require a job gauge at all until lv 62.

    This. WAR has a job gauge while DRK has MP.
    So if anything, DRK is the outlier, because it needs something to put in the job gauge, and it got a 30s buff to put in there instead.

    Nearly every melee DPS has a similar buff, and the only other one that is included in a job gauge is NIN's Huton.
