We're all wondering about remaining Ascians, and then, for some reason, Emet-selch from the 8UC wakes up in the basement of The First's Crystal Tower, and saunters out into the Crystarium like, "Whew, wait what? I've time traveled?"

Congratulations, you've invented a nightmare scenario for me that's even worse than anything I could've actually imagined myself. That's rather a feat!

There's a lot of stuff they could do with the 8UC timeline thread, but I think using it as a vector to bring back the Ascians as recurring villains in the base setting would probably be the worst.

Though, It'd be interesting some distance down the line to explore (as in expand on, not nessecerily explore literally) a world that actually reached the endgame of the Rejoining plan, and what the characters of Emet and Elidibus would even look like at that point.

Ah, believe it or not I usually shoot holes in my own ideas.

Like, if 8th Calamity succeeded in that timeline, then he's either asleep there or planning the 9th already. There's no real reason for him to be in the First Crystal Tower's basement. I just always had the idea in the back of my head, because that's how I thought they were gonna bring him back in 6.0.

It also wouldn't really serve the narrative as far as I can see. It's just within the realm of possibility.

    Damn Multiverse!

The groundwork is technically all there for a lowkey FFXI reference too. There's more than you'd think, though less than I'd like, and certainly more of them are more coincidental than I'd ever care to admit.

The Zilartian princes in RoTZ said that they laid in stasis in Delkfutt's Tower in FFXI. I figure that Emet-selch was probably napping in the Interdimensional Rift, but I also figure that extended stays there might be bad for the complexion. Waste of a good clone body, too. So maybe he had a stasis chamber in Ye Olde Syrcus Tower, because why not? Maybe he laid down for another nap, if only to forget the century or two of atrocities he just committed to further a Rejoining. Only he wakes up in that Light ridden world that in his timeline he already flambéed. What would he do first? How would he react to seeing himself in the Lifestream at peace with Hyth? It could be quite interesting, but it honestly doesn't further our narrative... at least from any angle I can think about at current.

Don't give the devs an idea on how to bring him back. Although if he's brought back then maybe the remaining ascians (Who're loyal to the cause) might come out of hiding.

If the devs were to ever cast their gaze my way and steal one of my silly ideas... that... would be everything.

I fully expect them all to show up at some point.
Not as main MSQ antagonists though.
Even if Altima and Deudalaphon were killed by Gaius, I still expect to see a bit of them like we did Mitron and Loghrif.
Halmarut and Pashtarot will for sure show up eventually. They wouldn't just leave them as complete no shows.
Altima and Pashtarot in particular showed up in a cutscene, so I can't imagine them not coming back.
Emmerololth I could see them just pretending they died in Eureka, even though we see them alive after. Maybe they'll be in the new Eureka.

See, I want Emmerololth to stay dead, in large part because the fact she's already dead without our input is actually much more interesting to me. That the world can be so big that an Ascian can just die and we don't hear about it for several expansions, and that the Students of Baldesion disappeared as part of a massive gambit to take one out.

Not only would Emmerololth coming back just fine so we can kill her make the story of Eureka less interesting, it'd also take away the Students of Baldesion's biggest W. It'd mean they sacrificed themselves for nothing!

Also, Eureka Orthos is most likely only tangentially related to Eureka The Island, by being its namesake; I wouldn't expect Emmerololth to turn up there. (Eureka the Primal, though, that I'd put money on.)
