Cannot login on character.

Currently right now I am unable to log into my character due to being in a loop, I bought a character rename but got disconnected while in an instance on a different DC. Now I a cannot login to my character because I need to change my name, but cannot do that because I need to return to my home world, which I cannot do since I disconnected while in an instance.

In short I am in a loop that prevents any action from happening. Please advise, thank you for your time.

Your best bet is to probably contact support, you won't find much help here on the forums.

To my surprise their live chat feature is quite active (I got connected to someone within a couple mins and solved an issue I had), so i'd recommend using that. Their email support is quite slow though sadly.

Have you tried logging in, navigating to the Datacenter where your Character is currently residing, right click on the Character in the selection menu, then selecting "Return to Home World".

It shouldn't allow you to purchase a Name Change to begin with, as:

"Your character must be on their Home World to perform name changes, so please be sure to log out from your Home World before using the Character Renaming Service."

But alas, this is basically a bug since you are now locked out of using said Character.

I spoke with support they told me to but in a bug report, since sooner or later the game will register that my character is logged out. They could not give me a time frame, worst case I hope it is until the next maintenance.

I've never done character renaming before, but it also seems like a system issue - why were you allowed to even perform renaming while you are in other DC? Maybe it should pop an error message saying, "please return to home world" first?

Hopefully by the daily reset, or even weekly reset.

You could try logging in an Alt, that usually forces any other Character to be logged out, as you used to be able to use this method of disconnecting to glitch your Alts on to your main Characters friends list until they patched it not too long ago.

Maybe create if possible, a New character on the same World as you d/c from if its not set to Congested, it will have to force the other to be logged out, I have used this method to recover from d/c in an instance before, as you simply can't login two character on the same World since it was patched, it was a handy trick to add your Alts to friends list.

Worth a try if you can.

But anyway, this needs attention as mentioned above, you simply shouldn't be able to buy a name change unless the system checks the selected character is on the Home World, as required.
