Um.. But all cities used to not have loading screens. I can live without Thanalan being connected but at least join the 2 halves of every starting city-state again.

Cities, no. But idyllshire and mor dhona did not break whilst having mounts allowed. Other hubs should allow them too.

Revenent's Toll is also not separately instanced from the rest of Mor Dhona like the other cities.
Can't find it right now, but I read somewhere that Idyllshire was originally going to be part of the Hinterlands map as well, but between the instancing for its rebuilding and for Alexander shifting around, plus concerns over performance with players gathered in the hub and out in the map doing other stuff, they split it up.
And Mor Dhona as a whole becomes a giant lagfest whenever anything story-relevant gets put there because of how many story-relevant things are there already, so that goes to show why Idyllshire and future endgame hubs ended up in separate instances. Rhalg's Reach and Idyllshire were also a lot smaller and a lot less town-like than Eulmore and Radz-at-Han, so I can see why it is with that shift they decided to 'officiate' the city status of future endgame hubs by making them no-mount zone.Revenent's Toll is also not separately instanced from the rest of Mor Dhona like the other cities.

Why does it even matter if it's a "mainstream" mmo?

I don't want to see people driving sportscars or riding Yokai-Watch clouds through Ul'dah while I am trying to immerse myself talking to NPCs and investigating the Syndicate.

Allow mounts and flying in cities.
Given the amount of players that seem to enjoy AFK'ing in the starting cities. Not having mount access in them is preferrable. Given the size of a number of the mounts in game it would just make issues of ppl intentionally covering up quest NPC's worse.

You used to see lots afking in Mor Dhona and Idyllshire with mounts. So I don't see any problems being able to use them in all cities.
