Once upon a time the endgame gathering area was the mount area. But probably because having servers costs money they killed it.
Many years ago, in Ironforge, we had whats called Winter Veil. There are NPC's who hand out presents, that kind of thing. For YEARS, idiots on Mammoths blocked those NPCs , laughing at us when we asked them to stop....then, one year....the players on my server had had a gutful.
"Go ahead and report me, the Gms wont do anything"
The reports started flooding in, HUNDREDS of reports...this time, one by one, the idiots started vanishing.
Rumours abounded until one player told his guildmates that he had been SUSPENDED...turns out Blizzard had turfed out a GM from home ON CHRISTMAS DAY, was told he or she had free rein to deal with it as he saw fit.
So: imagine this: a staffer on Christmas Day, told to come to work and help out because players were acting like jerks...AGAIN.
The GM, more than likely LIVID at having been dragged back into work because of these shenanigans, started banning people left and right. The rest of us were sitting there cheering and laughing our heads off.
Now, that area has a dismount zone.
So a flat NO to mounting in cities.

Limsa,gridania/uldah are the same since ARR. 1 DECADE ago of no updates or whatsoever. All those cities should already be open without restrictions or invisible walls/ loading screens.
Massive open sections for example Uldah should be fully connected with central/western Thanalan.
But nope, people spend 40 usd on exclusive mounts to only use it 20% of their playtime.
They actually shouldn't connect those zones like that, especially cities and overworld, but you're welcome to try and come back and tell us about your critically acclaimed MMO with this feature.People saying " no thank u xd"

I wouldn't mind if we had a very big city. A new city with multiple layers/levels would make use of flying mounts. No to the current starting cities.
They could also make use of the mount debuff (The same one as the island sanctuary) where certain buildings will force you to dismount.

I'd really rather they work on new content than undertake a giant overhaul to connect zones that were never designed to be connected to satisfy people coming from other games whining for ff14 to be more like the game they just quit.People saying " no thank u xd"

Pretty much this. Joined date is so telling here lol.
You don’t need mounts in cities, they have teleports at every corner. Nobody cares about you flexing mount X or Y or being a jerk blocking NPCs and ruining the feel of a place.
it'd be nice if they could be out and be shrunken down to follow you around like a beefed up minion but the zones themselves are tiny enough that it feels unnecessary when you have mini aetherytes
Maybe don't spent 80% of your time in Limsa then?People saying " no thank u xd"

If you want to show off a mount, go join a hunt train.
