The whole character creator is so limited yet they have no problems making npcs with combinations that we can't use...Considering they had to add a whole new face to just give male Midlanders a stubble instead of just giving them an extra facial hair option, I would imagine that they'd probably take a similar route. The entire character creator could use an overhaul at this point though.
We are lucky if we get any substantial upgrades in 7.0 with the graphics overhaul, but man, I really like male aura face 2, but I really can't with it's horns, they're the worst in terms of '' how the heck is he going to sleep with those things stuck on the side of his face?! ''
That genuinely bothers me.
Pick faces 3 or 4. They have the best horns matching the best faces /wink
But really, I also wish having horns as a separate customization option was a thing. I'm just glad faces 3 and 4 have the best combos IMO.
You're no true Au Ra enjoyer.

Character design seems to be locked into the preset character template, which means they can't just add any new thing they want – but from what I understand of how they figured out how to change Hrothgar hairstyles, they did that by adding additional faces in the back end of the template with the different hairstyles attached, so the choices made in the front-end "face" and "hairstyle" menus combine to be recorded as a single face in the back end.
If this is correct, then that sounds like it would be perfect to use for Au Ra horn choice. They would just need a copy of each face type with each horn type.
the character customization is the first experience a new player have with the game, they seriously need to rework this entire system and the limitations with it.
i really love au ra face 3 but the gaming headset on the sides of the head really bothers me.
PLEASE YOSHIP
Hoping that with 7.0 they completely revamp and update the character creator. It still annoys me that there is only one Au Ra face that I like and I am stuck with horns that I don't like.
Honestly? I might get some flak for this, but I'd love to see them completely overhaul the character creation menu and body frameworks and give everyone a forced fantasia so they have to recreate their character with the updated stuff (if they want to leave their character the way they look, fine, just hit accept and move on as usual).
Updated character creation screen:
1. Actual voice previews, not the terribly tiny selection we have now that barely gives us any indication of what our characters will sound like
2. Emote and animation previews
3. No bullcrap option locking, like hrothgar hair/faces and au ra horns.
4. Preview unlockable hairs, both in game unlocks and mogstation unlocks
This along with an updated character model framework so that we don't have silly restrictions preventing stuff for our character models (I remember something being said about the bone limit on hrothgars is one of the reasons why they had certain options tied together). This will probably never happen, unfortunately, due to the spaghetti foundation the devs are still dealing with.
When Au Ra where announced I fell in love with the design but then I saw the horns could not be changed. I do enjoy playing one now and then if I get bored or for glams.
Yoshi stated they where going to have lots of choice at the time so when the horns could not be chosen it was asked over and over and they came back with something saying on how they where designed and could not happen.
I am hoping in 7.0 they add to character creation as it is 2023 and the races are in big need of help. Horns being chosen being one of them. I love one of the faces but the horns are so big.
Honestly when it come's to Au'ra alot of people liked the earlier concepts as well, just a pity they weren't able to implement them. That being said it's not just people looking for separate face and horn combos, quite a few people would want varying body scale variants as well, the Au'ra body scales patterns are strangely uniform with the exception of subrace making them either blue or yellow. I would definately say people would love it if there could be 3 or 4 scale patterns with varying degrees of coverage as well as maybe allowing the scale colours to vary a bit. Maybe they can bring this about with 7.0 or varying upgrades.
An NPC is one object, while a player character is a pile of objects that all have to load in at the same time. It's like the difference between unpacking an action figure or a Lego kit.
