for a year, would you rather be secretly filmed at random moments and have the footage uploaded to your social media or loose $100 when ever you said a curse word?

They don't need to legalize it, but they do need to moderate it better and make some pretty clear guidelines and elect to follow their own guidelines.
You can argue this point that their stance is "No Third-party tools under any circumstances" - But they do contradict this on a fairly regular basis through their actions, or more accurately their inaction, bar a few circumstances.
So based on the tone of a lot of replies in this thread... we're cool with actual botting now?
There's no way the TC isn't joking here... right?
Macro's aren't cheats or botting guys, macro's are literally in the game.
Either way, there may be several plugin features that should be in the game, but allowing all third party tools is absolutely a no from me.
The game is supposed to be equally playable between PC and console. PC can 'get away' with a lot of things that are just QoL improvements (should be in the game) or just cosmetic (technically not hurting anyone) but when it provides an advantage, it goes against the spirit of equal presentation between PC and console.
Is it that wrong though from a player's perspective ?
Personally if X item is on the marketboard for cheaper, I dont care where it came from, it's cheaper and I'll gladly take it
"Peter! Remember the time the FFXIV forums had another 3rd party drama bait thread?"
It depends on your interaction with the market board. If you farm the raw materials to sell, I could see someone a little skeeved over the low Gil/hr. If you obtain Gil thru other means, you likely enjoy the system. It’s def a buyer friendly market for a lot of items.
