Same as the starboard larboard disaster. Or that the dying Zenos only in english starts to ask you some random bs questions that never get answered instead of telling you that your life was so much better than his and that your life was a wonder. Instead you get a "Was your life good? Was it worthwile? Did you had fun?" <dies>

These stupid raunchy jokes are just the tip of the iceberg, you have no idea how much your experience actually gets butchered by some people mainly Koji Fox rewriting the game after their taste for odd dialects and strange words. Which is probably something you can expect from someone who was used to teach english etc. but we are here to enjoy a cohesive story.

I mean i am grateful that Koji Fox exists don't get me wrong, he is same as Yoshi P. one of the reasons why XIV was such a huge success and why SE is even alive right now. But he has way way too much sway over the translation of the game, way way too much.
Right because there totally aren't any instances of the use of a different Japanese dialect for one of the races or anything else in the other languages that make sense or are jokes for their target audiences. Also Koji hasn't been part of the localization staff since he got moved over to work on XVI. So the new member is just continuing with the personality the character has been given. Your opinion about how people talk in the English version is just that. There are many who like and love the English localization and many who'd agree with you.

As has been explained more than once in this forum the English localization tends to be aimed at the North American audiences so a lot of the jokes and references will be those that they vibe with. Now I've actually lived in two out of the three countries and can say that those two have similar understandings and enjoy the same things even if one uses the metric system and has a Prime Minister.
