Apparently OP never did the FATEs at the Highbridge in Eastern Thanalan during ARR where the two Miqo’te talk about stroking their captain’s bridge lever together. Or he just jumps at any flimsy excuse to blame things on the “new localization team”.

Innuendos or even direct references to sex have been in the game’s English version since the beginning. Grow up.

Oh no, dirty jokes. Whatever will people think? Bruh did you completely forget how lewd Haurchefant was in original Japanese? They toned him down for the other languages because they didn't want it to come off as sexual harassment. Trust me the Japanese version has likely done far worse.

Also btw before we start pulling witch hunts at the localization team can somebody who knows japanese translate what the original script for that line was?

The FR localization is usually close to JP and the wood innuendos are completely absent from it.
But it's a series of puns which only really work in English, wood doesn't have the same connotation in French.
I think the NA localization just saw the opportunity and rolled with it instead of trying to manoeuver around it.

True but usually sometimes they play along with whatever intended humorous effect was given in the original scene. Since the cutscene the npcs are expressing something of the sort I assume the japanese script played to a joke thats akin to that or at least similar.
