If you're gonna try that kind of math, show the work because it doesn't add up.I mean it looks like some of it was on its way to being done but they didn't finish in time, no? I figure it's been all hands on deck with FF16 for CBU3 for the past several months.
Is it kinda lame? Sure. But it just isn't that big a deal as you guys are intent on making it IMO.
From the 6.3 notes....

The problem isnt: genderlocked rewards
The problem is: genderlocked rewards in a questline about breaking gender norms.
Who cares about a possible change? The stench remains.
Not at all. I feel like anyone who isn't taking a game absurdly over-seriously recognizes all the gender-unlocking they've been doing, plus the ability to simply buy the other gender set for now to use later. It's called recognizing basic reality.
That is ... pretty hardline stance there.
I had another think about this, and I'm now almost completely convinced that the glam reward designers had utterly no idea what this year's Valentione's Day event was going to be about. These costumes could have been made several months in advance, or longer.
It's not just that the sets are gender-locked, it's that they aren't even that different from each other! The hat, jacket, and shoes are extremely similar. The main difference is whether there's a skirt that flares out, or pants. Hardly anything like the sharp dichotomy between the clothes the quest NPCs are made to wear. Imagine how confusing the cutscenes would be, if those characters were wearing basically 85% the same dang clothing, but being told one of them is "dashing" and "handsome" versus "adorable" and "winsome." It would really obfuscate the point, and beg the question "If you were going to go this route, why did you make their costumes so similar!?" And really I think that's why one of the NPC's outfits wound up in a random black suit and pants that is already available in the game, instead of a completely new ensemble created for this event. They had to improvise something to fit the story, without any novel support from the design team.
I could be wrong, but just what I think right now.
That's not the impression I got. Lisette and her sister Emilie are both Elezen females. While the former embraces her femininity, the latter felt like she needed to dress the part in order to run the event in place of Lisette. However, this made her uncomfortable and she didn't feel like she was being herself. That doesn't have anything to do with breaking gender norms; you're just under the impression it does because Emilie likes to wear men's attire, and does not like cutesy compliments. The moral of the story is about staying true to one's self.
If I wanted to project my own feelings into the matter, I would say that Emilie couldn't help but be selfish despite wanting to do a very unselfish and loving gesture for her sister. She had to make things about herself and her feelings even though it was supposed to be about the courtship between Lisette and her significant other. She couldn't suck up leaving her comfort zone for one day for the sake of her sister's happiness. No one even forced her to change. She took it upon herself to do so, and couldn't commit to it. The options given to me to say to her were not what I wanted to express in even the slightest. What I took from this quest is if you're winy and pout, you get consoled.
