    Sorry OP, it the policy is pretty clear that accounts are not transferable. This is not something unusual in most online businesses, or even many recurring payment systems. God knows companies don’t like changing the name on bills…even if the person has passed away. Unfortunately, for SE the account was never yours to begin with.

    Whatever your reasons for wanting to change, I hope they are nothing like that and…ideally… I hope they are something you can work out.

    We are just beginning to see legacy transfers of accounts in some online services like Netflix (being able to transfer one user into an entirely new account). I don’t see that happening in FFXIV, but it is over 10 years old, so who knows.

    At the end of the day though, it’s your call- hopefully a solution that brings closure, even if it means stopping.

    Consider getting your own bank account and credit card in addition to making all of your personal accounts in your own name.

    Square-Enix is not our friend, despite the persona it has tried to cultivate since late 1.0

    The best example is the highly predatory housing system, where it is not only nearly impossible to get a house, but you are forced to pay 6 out of 12 months a year just to keep it once you finally get it. The game's subscription model should not hold a gun to the player's head, and wouldn't if there was any sort of actual care for your wellbeing coming from Square-Enix.

    You don't need a house se u choose to have one all u have to do just log in once walk in the house and out boom u can log out again.

    Thank you all for the messages. I was very emotional when I wrote this post, but your messages have helped clear my thoughts. I am considering everyone's advice to start over and this time make sure I add my name. It will take a long time to gain back what I already invested, but luckily, my friends in game will make it worth it. You all have been way more helpful than the customer support team.

    I had this happen to me on WoW. I was a stupid teenager when I started playing WoW. I put in the birth date 10-10-1969 (lolol 69) and my name as Squidward Tortellini.

    By 5th year I already knew I was doomed and can never change my personal info, I never bothered. Until today I still have it and can play without any problem. Its been 11 years+. What Im saying is if it doesnt affect anything in game you can just keep on playing it.

    Customer Support can only do so much, especially if they must operate within their guidelines and rules.
    But, Im sorry if you must start over, but hope you continue to enjoy the game, and wish a swift recovery of time lost.

    What if SE did what you wanted and swapped the accounts and a month later your husband complains to SE about how you stole his account and only agreed to the swap because you were blackmailing him. It would be a sh**show.
