Can I ask an honest question because I guess I don't understand, what issue is there with your husband's name on the account? Not judging or anything, I just don't understand the problem with it.

I'm not sure about the OP culture so stuff could be viewed differently, but I don't really see how the account name is even a problem. In fact, how did you not notice the name from the start to begin with? If you love the game so much then why can't you just continue playing it regardless of the account name?
If the account name is such a big deal to you, then I believe Duskane reply might be a great solution to you from your side.

if you are so resolved to quit and delete your account might aswell just start a new account.

If this is not a troll post, then I believe there's more to it than what the OP said.

Been friends with Poyo and her partner since January last year when we met on Materia DC.

Square Enix support are incompetent when Poyo has provided them with LEGAL DOCUMENTATION (Marriage certificate and Photo ID's) and they still refuse to take action to resolve the issue.

This is just another sign of the times, we as the players mean NOTHING to Square Enix as a whole. This issue is as simple as 'Yes we have the paperwork, yes we can do this for you'. yet they refuse to even take a proper look.

Square Enix, This is pathetic and you can do better.

They made another thread about this. I tried to understand it all just from a skim, but for whatever personal reason they no longer wish to have their husband's name as the one tied to the account. They feel that starting over wouldn't be worth it as they made so many memories ect as their current character. At least it's the account name and not also a PlayStation account that's tied up in all this. I'm assuming it's the Square Enis ID they're talking about and yeah there are things they are not able to do. Like for instance you and someone else had separate IDs, but for whatever reason you chose to merge them as it made sense at the time. If you again for whatever reason wanted to unmerge said accounts they also are unable to do so. Though not sure as to why they felt the need to make a new thread stating that they were leaving as they could have just posted in their other thread that talks about this issue.

Based on what they said, you could get a legal name change to your husband's name, then get another legal name change back, then get them to reflect the second name change using the legal evidence of your name change.

But it just doesn't matter. The name on the account is just a name. There is no reason to be this attached to a name.

I don't want to jump to conclusions but there is clearly something that OP didnt intentionally or unintentionally said and it may be for personal reasons.

Well it clearly says that Square Enix doesn't do name changes from 1 person to another. They will only do a name change if the same person has their name changed. This is all just to prevent account selling and related RMT

If I had read between the lines they had a falling out and now they wants that account to be theirs. But SE doesn’t care. They can leave if they want. I mean bad service can be a reason. To me I would open a new account if I like the game a lot as there is a risk of the other person locking the user out since it’s their account.

And this is the crux of the issue, since the husband legally paid for this account, it was never OPs to begin with, even if they used it for years. Attempting the change is fine but it would show more personal growth to take responsibility by acknowledging not reading the account owner in the first place and taking their losses and opening a new account.

What doesn’t make me sympathize is that they didn’t get what they wanted and so now their logical conclusion is to seek vengeance by shaming them in their forums. To their credit the support isn’t great at times, but how much did the game really mean to them if they can’t even be bothered to make a new account?

I had no friends where I live since I don't speak the native language, and I would spend all day with my baby with only my husband to talk to in the afternoons.
An online friend introduced me to the game and it was a life changer.
I finally started socializing with people.
This game pulled me out of bed every single morning--I would get my coffee, check retainers, run around Limsa, chat with my new FFXIV friends, and kick tall people's knees.

Between having not enough time and starting to play right after you got out of bed is a huge difference.....
