Reddit is a hivemind, dare to have a contrary opinion and that cute little centre of "enlightened discussion" will slap a gag on your mouth that wont allow you to respond whilst you are reviled, belittled, insulted and sworn at. The mods that run the subreddits arent any better and run their areas like dictators.

I would be inclined to agree, but the reality is that the Official Forums can be just as bad, if not worse than Reddit and Discord in many occasion, especially with 'General Discussion'. People on many threads seem far more inclined to engage in meta-discussion rather than actually address a debate or post directly. Further, many threads tend to devolve into accusatory remarks, to where the thread deviates from the original intention of the topic. Unironically, forums would benefit from having a downvote system, and would similarly benefit from proper moderation, too many threads fester far too long before they're moderated, if at all.
