This statement seems at odds with your previous position that parsing doesn't really provide any performance improvement

Parses do not really give you good information. Knowing what you are doing does. If you need external metrics to measure your performance, maybe you should just practice your rotation better.
In my disgustingly humble opinion, some rules are alright to be broken. I don't really subscribe to the kind of moralistic absolutism that rules must always be followed. Especially when the stakes are so low.

In the hypothetical situation that I were to parse my runs, said nothing of it, and just used it to improve, who would that harm?

Squenix? They're still getting my money, I'm active on their game. What do they lose?
Other players? If anything it benefits, as I'm a better teammate for it.

Well, if you read what YoshiP says.... I'm sorry to inform you but you're misguided and deluded by the idea that it's a "grey area". It's not. You are liable to get banned and SHOULD be banned no matter what if you are using addons. Reading parses is a different thing than reading ACT real time. One is reflection, one is a live metric for how effective you are pressing the buttons in game, mid-encounter.

Apples to oranges, pearls before swine.

Good thing none of us actually make the rules here.

There's a good chance I might if I were the sort of person to use ACT. Naturally, all of my information about it is strictly from hearing others talk about it, and what I've found on google.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go watch a pirated copy of the Last of Us because I can't afford another subscription.

SE's reaction to the current situation proves how okay they are with parsers. Action against unnamed was swift and aimed at the entire team even though technically only one person was proven to have plugins installed. Meanwhile many groups are live logging on fflogs the entire time. Does anyone seriously think SE doesnt know? You'd have to be extremely delusional to think that. So what does that tell us? Swift action against the entire team when they step over the line but no action against live logging groups? Guess that means parsing and live logging is not over the line.

They absolutely know it exists, just not going to do anything about it lol. They'd probably lose a massive chunk of their playerbase, not just those who use plugins but also those who are vehemently against any form of invasive anti-cheat being installed. This thread alone shows how it would be a mistake.

Don't answer the guy : new account, only posts on this thread, he's at best a troll, at worst a lunatic.

SE doesn't really care, even that IRL club billboard in LA (I think) went pretty much under the radar, but yeah, admitting you use add-ons is still bannable and should get you banned, since that's... the rule they implemented themselves. I don't care for mods, shaders, or even add-ons, but it's best not to push the limits too much, and a fair share of the modding/add-on-ing community would do well remembering that. Parsers are a different thing, since SE seems to tolerate them much more than they used to, but let's not push the limits.

I still don't care myself and think everyone should play however they'd like, but displaying such things everywhere can only bring bad things.

It comes down to others reporting at that point because AFAIK they don't have people playing big brother in the sky scanning every chat that goes on. If they are, they aren't looking for plugin use at least. XD

I agree, but let's not take risks, for those people's sake, that's what I meant
