At least I am respecting Yoshidas wishes/pleas while you modders do not. Follow the set rules and we can have together on an even playingfield. Would you find it fun being playing a sport or game against others if people use hack and cheats to win over you? I dont find that fun following the rules and being demolished by cheaters. Not a fun party at all xD

True or not, it isn't like I'm being punished for having only 4GB of RAM or something. False equivalence.

But if you pull up to a road block and have nothing to hide you give them your info and show you are not drunk driving right?? Or do you immediately try to turn around and find a way around just for a cop to pull you over anyway??. You probably do the 1st one cuz you have nothing to hide and while a very small inconvenience you just go through..same with anticheat except 99.9% of the time it's not even noticable it's their

Actually, there is no difference between them. In both cases there could be something running in the background of their programs or mods that is collecting information and then be used for something else. Only that corporations are legally bound to tell you what they do via ToS/EULA before agreeing.

Just because they are your friends or a small fan run service doesn't mean you should relax and thoughtlessly install anything.

    Trust, but verify.

That's not a great analogy at all.

Roadblocks are limited to checking ID, plates and insurance. They are only allowed to request a breathalyzer or to check your vehicle if there is a cause to do so.

In FFXIV, checking ID, plates and insurance is akin to your login information and your CC to pay for the service. That's the roadblock. Anything past that is an invasion of privacy. Maybe they should have these inspections (your breathalyzer or car inspections) for anyone that has been banned in the past.

We don't live in a communist state where we don't have these rights. Why give them up so freely? Besides, as has been noted, these measures will mostly effect players that are playing legitimately. Cheaters will find a way around them.

Essentially, your "roadblock" is just the road that legit players travel on. Cheaters will just drive around the roadblock on an alternative route, leaving the rest of us to deal with the inconvenience.

In the end people REALLY motivated to cheat will cheat no matter punishment or anything...however the "roadblock" anticheat is just a deterrence that vast majority would abide by and not go around. People obviously can do what developer REQUEST them to do so adding a deterrence is the next logical step. The only sad part is some qol and just non cheater add-ons would suffer from this and that would be something square would need to heavily implement before doing this

In the end those kinds of programs never do much more than interfere with the games performance and junk up your PC. The people making add-ons usually find a way around them to use anyway.

I have hundreds of steam games with anti cheat and played wow for years with anti cheat and those programs don't bog down a computer or my performance in games at all. I have never had an issue where that has been the reason a game performed back.
Now will they find a way around it yes of course you can't keep anything protected even state governments have issues with people hacking them so if they want in eventually they will find a crack no matter how good it is. But for 99% they're not going to do that work for a game.
