Would you be opposed to SE implementing a program to scan for addons/parsers?

So how would I single out the rule breaker then? 7 people is a narrow enough pool for square to deal with. It's not that difficult to do. I'm sure they will streamline an investigation method for accounts that are labeled as suspicious for being reported for addon use. There's no reason for a full blown anti-cheat as long as people are being policed for addons regularly. Enough permabans go out and you won't break the rules any longer. You can always go back to WoW where cheating isn't against the ToS.

You don't. It gets even better, SE has no way to detect who is using the parser so there is no investigation to be done. It's why it is a don't ask don't tell policy. Unless they stream with their character name shown, take a screenshot of it on their screen with their character name shown, or openly admit in chat in game SE will not take action because there is no evidence.

But yeah, you're right. Point is, the idea that FF14 is a "great community" is looooong gone. The game has grown, there are a lot more people in here, and the environment is definitely different than what we had before. And the issue is we're super passive aggressive.

WoW may be more aggressive, but that at least stops and people can have a decent discussion. However, just like FF14, people still do very much go nuts over whatever suggestion and clamp down on discussion completely.

Either way? This thread has long since stopped being about a meaningful discussion and it's just a place for what seems to be one guy having a hissy fit that people aren't as restricted as he is.

Naguura, a very prominent and popular WoW streamer, came over to FFXIV with the whole limit max raid thing. She wound up sticking around for a while even going an all girls UwU run but ultimately quit because she kept getting harassed about skipping the story. This was after pointing out that she initially came over to try out Savage with Max, thus she didn't have time to be apart of his project if she went through four expansions worth of story. Additionally, she repeatedly said she genuinely wanted to try the MSQ but would prefer doing it on EU as she's an EU streamer.

Needless to say that never happened because a subset of this community cannot stop clutching their pearls if you so much as mention you don't care about the story or it isn't a priority for you.

I haven't been on the WoW forums in a long time, but back when I played it was notorious for being the worst in the entire MMO community. Followed closely by SWTOR which had articles written about it on gaming sites.

Maybe it's changed now though, and the WoW community is more chill. The FFXIV forums, however, suck bad. People here are cantankerous, trollish, and spend the majority of their time hating on the game for literally anything. And it's not because "We all care about the game and want to see it improve." Yeah no.

Constructive criticism is great and is warranted. And this game is not without its flaws. But the amount of hate heaped on the game here is stupid.

Reddit and Discord are far better communities.

How is it "fraudulent"??? You don't even know waht that word means. If I am in a parse after asking the party to let me know if they are using addons, it means they didn't respect my experience the way you people suggest you would. I'm not sure how you would exactly go about respectfully using addons because, you don't ask if it's okay because that would result in you being banned. You don't let others know you are using addons if you are asked, because that would result in you getting banned.

The only way for me to get you actioned is to report all the people present in the parse excluding myself. Then square enix will have to do an investigation and either do nothing, or ban the people breaking the ToS. The fact is at least one of the people reported should be banned according the rules. There's no reason to not mass report everyone on fflogs by this logic, but I'm only going to do it for the people who end up parsing me after I ask for them to respectfully leave group or turn off addons for the run they are involving me in.

Imagine twisting dialogue and pretending you're on the side of righteousness by throwing around words you don't even understand. It's a tricky issue to tackle because you cheaters are so sneaky and dishonest about it. If it is annoying enough for square enix to deal with the mass reporting, maybe they will have to step up their policy.

You know very well that in WoW, people generally don't care which race you're playing. At worst, they care about Alliance vs Horde and that's about it. They either hate all other races or they genuinely don't care.

The troll literally said a while back that it's sticking with WoW because at least there "mods are allowed and not against ToS even though they should be". The troll was the one comparing 14 to WoW, not the person you replied to, who was telling it if it loves WoW so much to just stay there.

The only thing I don't like about ACT is it's presence in other content. If it were truly exclusive to people running savage or ultimate, or even EX, and used only to improve their performance then a lot of these arguments would be perfectly valid. The reality is it's used in nearly all content, the fact that my character has a number of logs despite having never done any savage or ultimate raiding nor having run ACT myself attests to that. It has been and will continue to be used to harass and belittle players in content where the kind of performance demanded by savage just isn't necessary. The current stance of the dev team trying to kind fo turn a blind eye to it while still keeping it against the TOS is what is allowing players pursuing savage and other raids to use it while prohibiting it's use in when it becomes in issue in other content, as long as the raiders at least make some attempt to keep it to themselves.
