This topic has had a good amount of discussion, and valid takes and expressions. But it's stopped now, and is just vitriol being thrown back and forth.
Stop. Stop blaming your neighbor. Stop blaming the community. SE has built this problem up for themselves. Even ACT was just the community reaction to Gordias' dps checks.
SE will play damage control the best way they know how. They'll sweep it under the rug.

This thread is embarrassing to read. Anyone trying to do Ultimate content without a dps meter will never beat it, let alone clear the Savage tier required for it.
There is no feedback from the game thay tells you that you aren't meeting the necessary damage to clear the content.
So why do people who don't care about their damage would be interested in raiding in the first place?
Most of these "3rd party tools should be banned" posters are witch hunting and looking for attention.
Also saw some console players getting salty? PC is an open platform, consoles are not. They are closed environments that don't allow modding or unofficial tools because they don't know if it'll effect their system's performance/platform being sold to children.
...Not sure if serious.
Just looking up your proper rotation on the Balance or elsewhere and trying to be cognizant of mistakes regarding cooldown timings and uptime is more then sufficient to get you through savage. Even ultimates generally aren't that strict of a DPS check if the group knows when they should be pooling resources/dumping cooldowns.
I would agree that the game itself doesn't do enough to indicate to you whether or not you're playing a job "right", though, thus many players who didn't do their research get a rude awakening when they hit endgame and suddenly realize they need to change things up drastically...or not, and while Stone, Sky and Sea exists, the dummy tuning is rarely very accurate.

Unfortunately all of those guides and proper rotations exist purely because of ACT. The balance discords and all of the website use ACT to theorycraft and test the rotations to create the proper openers and rotation. So without them these wouldn't exist and players would simply be left guessing which would likely reduce the over all damage your average player who doesn't theorycraft does....Not sure if serious.

I honestly think SE needs to admit that most of these plugins exist because their design philosophy has driven it. Tight DPS check margins means everyone needs to be working at their best levels, which you can't tell if you are based on game feedback. It's nice that they want to avoid the drama that most DPS meters create, but at the same time this has created a huge issue with people needing to mod to get the feedback the game doesn't give because while SSS was a great idea on paper, it just doesn't actually do what is needed of it.
So yeah, I'd be against it. I also have issues with anti-cheat software because of my experiences with ArcheAge and their rootkit which really messed up my PC and took forever to get off even after uninstalling the game. At best such things are pointless because people get around them and it only slows down legit players. At worse, well as some have pointed out there are a number of Anti-cheat programs out there that are notorious for slowing down PCs, severely large number of false flags, etc. Add that to the fact that many of these mods exist because SE can't be bothered to add the features to the game, can't seem to work the headgear for two races, and refuse to give players proper play feedback so they can ensure they are doing all they can to not hold their team back and yeah, putting an end to this would be a nightmare for them.
uh? Sounds like cope. Here is how you know if you are failing because of dps: you cleanly handle all mechanics and understand fight, yet die to enrage timer. The enrage timer is literally the in game feedback that tells you you're not doing enough dps. This thread is embarrassing to read. How far will people go to defend their use of performance enhancers?
Also, since you say it's impossible to clear savage content without damage meters, you are admitting to using them since you've cleared savage content countless times? Or are you some god gamer that does things you tell others are impossible?

And then comes the fun part: you're in a group of 8 people. Now how are you going to tell who needs to work on their dps and who is already doing fine?uh? Sounds like cope. Aggro list is absolute shit for it and you know it.
Balance rotations are calculated with ACT. Everyone who ever looked up a proper rotation and uses it that is either directly posted on Balance or copy-pasted from there into some guide does in fact rely on ACT because that is how they are calculated in the first place. They don't pull them out of their arses, they calculate them with the help of parsing tools that give them accurate numbers instead of wild guesses and feelycraft which so many people here seem so fond of.
"Oh, I *think* I've been doing great just now, gonna post that on Balance as the new go-to rotation!" - not how it works, mate.
And yes, I rely on ACT and at least indrectly profit from it and I have no shame admitting it.
Because while there's nothing to look up for SCH in terms of rotation (just... Broils), I learned everything about both the best core rotation, the different openers and all the non-standard lines for BLM from there and regularly used that knowledge in endgame content. I'll not pretend that I just read a few tooltips and then knew the ins and outs of that class while the people on The Balance spend many, many hours pouring over charts, rotations and logs, let alone that I improved while practicing without regularly plugging my results into xiva. I'm not that arrogant.

I would absolutely be against this, because Plugins are not only used for cheating.
Of course I would never use any, but I heared there is plugins i.E for housing designers, that allow for a way better experience than what the regular furnishing placement has to offer.
Any auto detection system would block those and many other non-cheating tools too.

Yeah... I cant really see them adding an entire anticheat program, maybe at the very least like exculsively requiring the main ffxiv launcher to run ffxiv through some back and forth encryption but im sure even that would get bypassed, lol
