I'm getting some crazy flashbacks to the Windower days.
The day SE does this will not only kill raiding, but any meaningful combat content. I refuse to play a game where I can't even see if I'm doing well or bad. I like self-improvement, and the devs haven't added anything that would allow me to see so. And SSS is a practice dummy not a tool for improvement.
Also adding invasive programs like this is pretty much cancer for everything on your PC. You will affect anything you do. Take a lot at Valorant's anti-cheat program, it'll detect things and prevent them when it's not even for Valorant.
So no thank you, I would drop my sub the instant this happens and this is not because "I wanna mod, I wanna cheat, blah blah." Anti-cheat that scans your PC everytime you wanna play slows down your PC, gives more errors that you don't even know how to fix. It's way more trouble than it's worth.
It's invasive and counterintuitive.
If you actually become familiar with your job instead of parses, you can see how close you are to the limit by how fluent your rotation is. It's all based on ilvl beyond that, so you're not actually increasing in skill. Just perceived skill because the number is going up with your gear upgrades.
Parses do not really give you good information. Knowing what you are doing does. If you need external metrics to measure your performance, maybe you should just practice your rotation better.
I'll echo what the others said in here, since if SE really did decide to go after this they're not gonna pick and choose it'll be everything and that, will hurt the game more than help it. A friend of mine uses 2 mods for their frame rate and delay plus one for their connection stability.
Both do not alter the game, but they provide them info that they need with their slow internet in order to function. Many times when we try to pvp or que for frontline, they drop out due to being able to see their ping spikes and an unstable connection.
Point is, SE isn't gonna sift through all plugins & mods and either OK them or add them as a crappier feature in 5 years... They're gonna block all of it and that would plainly suck. So yeah, would be against it, heavily.
I think the majority of raiders use ACT when they are raiding. It’s common sense. You want to git gud, you need someone who’s telling you what are you doing wrong. ACT/Logs and XIV analysis do this. Even if you don’t care about your or other dps you need ACT or someone else using ACT. And this is the starting ground for being a raider. . You are wasting your and others time otherwise.
If SE will implement an Anticheat I think they will loose the majority of raiders.
Imho, once you have learned the fight you just don’t care about the gear…since it would be obsolete before the next tier.
Imho a raider cares more parsing on an unofficial scoreboard. That’s why a raider needs the gear.
So, why raiding if you can’t parse more due the anti cheat?
A raider could do a full tier clear once for the “fun”…and then? I bet EU servers will be devastated. It’s hard to raids now in the first two days form reset…
I’d like to see an anti cheat, a sort of thing that can prevent the abuse of any kind of system that can be used to harrass people and to prevent the disrupting of anyone gameplay…and I think the only thing left vanilla in my game is the font.
But If this should come at the cost of all third party tools which enchants one’s game experience, may it be a QoL or a Gear mod, or a VFX mod/animation/custom pose/gshade/face mod/texture pack, may it be SFW or not
I’d against it.
Plug-ins do what the game can’t and in certain way they help the game to be improved.
For one guy using an UAV mod to scope form the moon is kinda ridiculous don’t you think?
Isn't it weird that cheating and breaking tos is so normalized in this community that you openly admit to breaking the ToS on the official forums?I think the majority of raiders use ACT when they are raiding. It's like an "everyone does it" mentality and it's really weird. Not everyone does it. Tons of us enjoy the game for what it is. We don't need players like you belittling the experience by saying it's only worthwhile if you have numbers to chase.

Honestly, I feel like calling ACT "cheating" betrays a lack of understanding about what it actually does, which is consistent I suppose.Isn't it weird that cheating and breaking tos is so normalized in this community that you openly admit to breaking the ToS on the official forums?

It's functionally just a calculator. I could do pretty much the same thing it does manually. Might take me a few years (maths ain't my strong suit), but I could do it.

It's different in WoW where it's not against ToS. Why should I lose performance relative to my peers because I don't want to break ToS? How is that fair? How is that a position worthy of ANY support?
Yes, it's against the ToS. But is Yoshi/the staff going to do anything unless you yourself admit you're using them in game or it goes viral and pisses off half the community? No.It's an addon, it's against ToS, it provides a clear performance benefit.

It's a gray area, always has been. He's said they're against the ToS but also has said he's not going to take extra measures to stop people from using them because it's not worth the effort of going through every single plugin in existence and adding them to a list. So, it's treated like fight club. Some are more vocal than others about using them, that's their choice. Ultimately though, admitting it on here doesn't affect anything with your main account. They're considered two separate entities.
On another note, you probably shouldn't treat the ToS as sacred text that can't ever be broken because most of the time they can't even enforce basic rules properly unless it becomes a huge deal. It's more like guidelines at this point.
Not to be that person but ultimately this is just the new life of the game. The devs are already implementing plugins as actual features in the game so they're clearly not trying to stop them lol. If anything instead of getting mad at plugin users or creators, say thank you because you're getting those in the game now as actual features and having your own game improved. Will we get a parser built in, in the future? Who knows, but I'm more inclined to believe it would happen now compared to two years ago.

This statement seems at odds with your previous position that parsing doesn't really provide any performance improvement
In my disgustingly humble opinion, some rules are alright to be broken. I don't really subscribe to the kind of moralistic absolutism that rules must always be followed. Especially when the stakes are so low.If you actually become familiar with your job instead of parses, you can see how close you are to the limit by how fluent your rotation is. In the hypothetical situation that I were to parse my runs, said nothing of it, and just used it to improve, who would that harm?
Squenix? They're still getting my money, I'm active on their game. What do they lose?
Other players? If anything it benefits, as I'm a better teammate for it.
