Inability to obtain a house is making my interest in playing this game wane.

Im a long time player, been around in one form or another since 1.0. I've run all the content that I can without a FC and am very pleased with the game, for the most part anyway. Really the only goal I still have is home ownership. In all the time I've been playing I've always wanted a house but either through lack of botting, or lack of luck have never been able to obtain one. When they open up new wards its always so hopeful and exciting, then ultimately disappointing. I don't understand why it is a design choice to have a part of the game that is only accessible to 10% of the population. Would it really be so difficult to implement instance housing so everyone can have a house? They have the apartment system which is basically that. Why not expand the apartment system so you can upgrade it from apartment >> small >> medium >> large if you have the gil. The devs know there is nothing else to spend this pile of gil on in this game.

At this point I'm just logging in, seeing that I didn't get a house again and logging back out. I'll pop back in when the lottery opens back up. If this keeps up, I wont be sticking around for much longer.

Might I interest you in a (free for you, since you're on Crystal!) transfer to Dynamis? If you're not going to be playing otherwise anyway and you're not particularly attached to a content group like an FC, I don't see what you have to lose.

That said, yes, it can be that difficult to convert a non-instanced system to an instanced one. As the years tick by, I should think it increasingly difficult to believe that they're doing it out of sheer stubbornness - particularly considering the fact that they've steadfastly avoided even commenting on the concept. That's not something you do if you're outright dismissive of a popular idea.

As the previous poster said, Dynamis is right there if you are THAT interested in having a house at all cost, feel free to move there, it's free too.

I think most of us agree it should be easier for players to get houses.

Going the "I'm going to hold my subscription hostage if you won't give me a house" route never works because developers know that it's not a single piece of content that keeps players engaged in a MMO.

Clearly you don't have friends that you enjoy playing the game with or you wouldn't be threatening to quit. So transfer to Maduin, Marilith or Halicarnassus and you will be able to get a house.

If you really want a house, yes because you can always visit your old world if you're coming from any other NA world. Your linkshells and such will still be there so you can stay in touch whenever you visit your old data center. Dynamis also needs more players to move to help fill it up and the new wards that have been filled on all the other data centers have not yet opened for bidding. You still have time to save up and bid on a larger plot with a high chance of winning since I won a large in Seraph with my bid being the only one and that's the fullest of the new worlds on Dynamis. As mentioned already, it's free to move all your characters, just gotta wait three days apart when moving multiple characters and you also get 10 gold Choco feathers too.

Depends on circumstances for the individual and how badly they want a house now instead of waiting until they manage to win the lottery.

In the OP's case, it's a definite solution based on what they've said. There's nothing else keeping them interested in the game so they're not going to lose anything by transferring to get a house.

There's loads of houses in Goblet that have no bids and on different wards. Not gonna take a photo of all of them.

If you are without a free company and don't mind playing solo, why not make your own solo free company? You can share items and Gil with alts, try out all the features and eventually get a free company house in ward 25 or 1-6, which are reserved for free companies only and are pretty empty.
