    Why did they remove the 24 man mode of FL?

    Probably in the minority but I do miss the 24 man made of FL. I do like the goals of FL for the most part, but always preferred the smaller size. Yes I understand CC is a thing, but I just don't get why they removed the 24 version. Would also help the new server queue maybe.

    72 players is just a tad too chaotic at times. Of course adjusts to DR would have to be made but yeah.

    24 man seal rock was pretty fun. But it was only really supposed to be when 72 man didnt fill up.

    True, but a happy middle ground mode between CC and FL would be nice, though I guess it would divide the queue too much. Rival wings is okay, but at the core FFXIV FL objectives are not inherently bad, I just think 72 people just makes it far too chaotic to properly enjoy on a personal level imo.

    Agree though 24 seal rock was a blast.

    I've always liked the 24man FLs. They weren't gigantic zerg clown fiestas. I never understood why they removed them.

    I've always dreamed of the system having a max que duration for frontline where after, say, 10 minutes of trying to get a 72 man, it would instead launch instances of 24. But that seems to be far more complex then the system will allow these days.

    Because with current system it would just be 1 DRK and stack aoe's, can wipe entire enemy team so easily in an 8v8v8.

    Or considering the current dr, you could just roll ninja or monk and literally never die in an 8v8v8 mode, you'd have to actually afk to try and die.

    in 8v8v8 very rarely did you move as a whole group. That was a good way to lose. You split off into groups of 2-4 to fight for objectives.

    Which means no caster, healer or ranged job would ever be seen in an 8v8v8 right now, imagine running into a 4 man group of 2 ninja's, a monk and a samurai when your 4 man group has summoner and astro in it, only option is to let em complete blast your apart so you can go back to spawn to change into a melee or tank job.

    You can solo defend as a paladin on any point against 2-4 people and by the time you take him out (if you even can before he just runs off), the point will have despawned.

    The reason? They were upset about 8-man premades and took a bunch of overkill actions to stop it, including removing 24-man FL matches.

    It was a myriad of reasons, but the main ones were basically;

    Removing the GC locks opened up the queue so filling a 72 player map became easier (even more so after they added a roulette with exp rewards making the mode pop frequently.)

    8v8v8 created a constant premade group stomping so they clearly wanted to end that without hurting the ability to group up. Its clear with CC that they want to avoid premade problems considering in CC they don't even allow groups at all.
