How would they know if they've never tried to use one as the poster boy for the expansion?

I mean, if it's still to be the midlander guy... a healer could still work so long as it were sufficiently new, its artifact armor went beyond just the generics of "healer = dress/robe", seemed to offer more than just a few offensive options, and generally seemed to resonate with derplander's appearance (think more Mushi-shi than AST).

Could work with any one of the healers, considering how badass they can make them look if they try. See Alphinaud using his nouliths in the Endwalker opening movie as an example.

I mean, healers do have offensive spells.
Hell, if they use WHM they can use the blood lilies or even holy.
And in a war setting with many casualties they can use medica/rapture/assize.
It all really depends on how they do the scene.
With that said, I doubt they're capable enough to pull it off xD

Casters would be easier with RDM and SMN.
RDM got style, and SMN got big booty titan

I don't think the expansion trailers are really made to sell the game to new players.

Completely disagree, the trailers are there to build up hype and get people interested in the game, same as with every game that has a trailer.

Both, actually.

They're there to provide existing players with hype for the continuation of the story and the new expansion.
And they're there to wow newcomers and impress them enough to join and give context to what they are seeing.
