They are/were available to everyone, for a limited period of time.
All this content before 2.0 is available up until 2.0; Maybe excluding seasonal event items.
If people don't show up, show up late, or whatever: Too bad.

That's why the rest of us have been sticking around. Everyone knew that this content was limited time only, it was one of the first things stated by Yoshi-P in relation to re-launching the game in 2.0 format.

FFXI has a system where you can obtain items from events past of the same type.
You will just have to hope they put that in, this year it is Yukutus(sp?) and everyone who has stayed and already obtained swimsuits is looking forward to those items, not things they already obtained.

Is that relaxed of an answer for you? Or is it just too much to accept the fact that you missed out on something.

It's just not going to happen though.
Yoshi-P is big on keeping his word, his word is that all of this content is limited time to the players who are here now/were here from the start. To go back on his word that he gave to the people who have been here this entire time is worse than telling people who chose to be late to the party that they should have been on time.

Honestly I think people being able to get Legacy status and all things involved with the status by just showing up at the end is incredibly generous. Legacy status should have been for people who have always been here.

It's never enough for these kinds of people though. Always want more for nothing.

In case it has been mentioned yet, this year's summer event items will be yukata and geta slippers, as confirmed on the JP side some months ago.

As for the bikinis, if they do make them available again this year in the same style as the egg hats were this easter, I imagine that people would only be able to get the silver one and the coloured ones, but not the gold one, just like how this year's easter event brought back all the egg hats except the chocobo hat.

In any case, I'm for not recycling items. It's unfortunate some people missed items because of computer woes, but the majority of people who want them only want them because, "it's so unfair you guys!" Giving out event items again just serves to cheapen the entire thing.

For the swim suit we gave out in the seasonal event; that is something showing that you participated in that event so we are not planning to release any recipes for it. However designs for other new swim wear or like other threads request for more sexy looking gear, these we are currently working to release recipe for them. The looks are sexy enough but not going to break the world settings.

It only says recipes. It does not say anything that "We will not release them for next years summer event" and it also says NEW swimsuits.

There is obviously a demand for it.../shrugs

I can see if they were like this about collector items and when they warn you a one time chance thing. But omg lol this is just some event thing. Is there anything wrong with more people running around in swimsuits anyway? :P

summer event in 1.23 i think since it should be comming around end of july

I haven't seen SE say anywhere that the swimsuits won't be available this year, but they did say we get yukata this year.

It's a shame though. It'd be nice if they had one more chance for people to get those swimsuits. I feel bad for those who missed out.

Could still say "I got this because I played before 2.0," as 2.0 hasn't arrived yet.

In XI eventually they let people purchase the past summer/winter/etc event items at the moogles while the event was going on. Nothin wrong with that.
