Why cant we own multiple appartments?

Why can we only have 1 appartment?
most appartments are empty. just give us more.
those that get more appartments wont stop playing if they have 3 instead of 1...

i dont want to trash my designs every single time i want to try something new or beg others that i can decorate their place.

or at least give us an backup option, in worst case even a local backup would be enough.
(a room design should be less then 4kB (uncompressed); 1TB could hold 250,000,000 designs then lol)

I have 6 apartments. They are owned by 6 different characters. I had a couple of more apartments but decided I wasn't interested in playing those characters enough and deleted them.

It's not hard to get characters to level 50, especially if you create them on one of the new worlds. That will give you a way to get more apartments just for experimentation. As long as you're in the same physical data center, you'll be able to transfer gil to the new characters as needed for them to get what they want to use to decorate. If you get them all into the same FC, they'll have a FC chest to share most housing items and possibly a house that can be use to trade the normally untradeable items.

Apartments are still limited in number. Just ask anyone who plays on Balmung or Mateus. All the new apartments added with Empyreum sold out in 3 months. The ones just added with the new wards will likely sell out in a similar amount of time.

When apartments were first introduced, they said that adding more wings (those 15 room blocks) to apartment buildings would be much simpler than adding more wards if there was need yet they've never done even when there was need on a few worlds. The demand for actual plots has been high enough that more apartments are getting added with each ward addition.
