Island Croplands Automation

I've asked a bunch of folks, nody had the answer, nor apparently neither did googling. Trying to set up automation via the mammet service says it will plant crops after the last are gathered. But WHAT will they plant? Do I have any choice here, or is it the crops I had growing when I sert it up?? Doing it manually, I always try to balance inventory as well as keep big supplies on 2 (to make food for my pasture animals).

You decide it when setting it up for each plot. Then they automatically water them, collect them and re-plant more. They keep doing this until you run out of seeds, to make sure you are stocked up on seeds.

It replants whatever is planted in the slot when you assign it to the caretaker.

So how do I get to change what is being planted? I assume I can cancel the automation... so I do I cancel it, wait for whatever is planted to mature, pick those, sow new stuff then turn automation back on? Seems a bit convoluted and somewhat not saving that much "work" on my part, no?

If youre constantly changing the plants and rebalancing load, then yeah the automation isnt great for you. Right now ive got it on. Im growing 3 plots each of the seeds that can be harvested. The other 8 plots ive got the 2 new seeds growing on until they catch up with the others for volume. At that point i will either manually grow 8 plots to balance load(the other 12 staying the same), or i might just set 1 plot for of each purchasable seeds and call the slight imbalance close enough.
