That's assuming that working with the buff cap isn't actually an intended mechanic here.

On the other hand, that's worrisome. It literally means that we're looking at a future where certain classes simply need not apply at the high end (DNC and SGE having too many buffs to be safe has been mentioned. As a WHM main, I guess there's a small smile there in that it might mean WHM can seriously be considered over AST for once in a lifetime?), i.e., SE has finally decided to join Blizzard in the "bring the class, not the player" paradigm. Which seems contrary to how things have always supposed to have been in the past (note them bending over backwards to try and fix P8S where "bring the class" became a serious issue, including nerfing a currently relevant boss in that manner for the first time in what, ever?).

On the other other hand, this is ultimately a JRPG superboss fight, and I've played enough JRPGs to know that obtuse gimmicks like this are practically de rigeur for superboss fights (although this seems more common in turn based games like Shin Megami Tensei and Persona; action-oriented ones, like 4D Freya in Star Ocean and even Yiazmat tend to be more straightforward) ...
