    Spiritbond Question

Had some odd Spiritbond behaviour today, wondering what I am doing wrong.

I had two +spiritbond bonuses running, HQ superior potion, +6 spiritbond, and Squadron manual for +3 spiritbond.

I did Expert, Leveling, Trial, Main Scenario duties as a 90 Dancer with level 90 gear, with 2-5 melds, at the end of all that I was at 1% spiritbond.

I did Level 50/60/70/80 dungeon duty as a 80 Sage with level 80 gear, with 2 melds, at the end I was at 0% !! spiritbond.

Any idea why I gained zero spiritbond? Anyone else seeing the same?

Edit - Did Level 90 dungeon duty (The Dead Ends) with the 90 Dancer. The 5 meld level 90 gear (ilvl 610) gained 13-14% spiritbond with no +spiritbond. The 2 meld level 90 gear (ilvl 620) gained none. Then nothing doing Alliance Raid (World of Darkness)

IIRC you only get spiritbond from doing content comparable to the gear level. So a level 90 in level 90 gear will get spritibond from a level 90 expert roulette, but not a level 50 MSQ roulette.

Yep on top of this it's not just the physical level but also item level which seems to be affected. So gear closer in ilvl to that which drops from an instance will spiritbond faster in said instance.

Thanks, so in this case, as I had level 610/620 gear, and only the 610 gained spiritbond, "The Dead Ends" has an ilvl limit on 610 for giving spiritbond.

Weird. I recall not getting ANY spiritbond, at all, while doing Collectables. You know that thing where you craft stuff to trade for scrips? Not getting spiritbond at all with the Indagator's set while doing it.

Which is ironic, since the entire purpose of me doing the collectables was to get more materia.

Yes, I’ve also noticed recently there seems to be an ilevel range for spiritbond in addition to simply level. I ran the latest alliance raid with an Eternal Dark accessory (ilevel 580) and it gained nothing or something extremely small. I was expecting it to pop a materia as it was about 85% or so and alliance raids typically give you 20%+ with buffs.

It was already slow enough to get materia crafting with Pactmaker through spiritbond. I think the issue is that the collectibles are fixed at a low difficulty, dating from expansion launch, and it gets progressively harder to spiritbond from anything other than the latest Master Recipes as you get higher-level crafting gear. You gain materia much faster from turning in the collectibles themselves anyways so that’s the primary focus.
