I would love to see some glamour dresser on private estates, it would be a great improvement to add in future patches as I am sure a lot of people would make use of it, less running around MORE GLAMOURRRR ! <3

They've already given some code related reason why they can't do this. I don't buy it though, considering I've gotten a "you can't move this object when someone is interacting with it" error code when editing.
I think tis because they essentialy link a glamour dresser to every item that can be glamoured; so spawning a ton more of those dressers would create a exponential level of more DB queries. Probably a big reason for the concern about instancing because of the custom engine they use.
Yea something along the line there, only shows how poorly thought out the glamour system was.I think tis because they essentialy link a glamour dresser to every item that can be glamoured; so spawning a ton more of those dressers would create a exponential level of more DB queries. They should try and copy what WoW has.
At the very least I was hoping we would get the option to buy a Beauty Parlor in Free Company Houses just like the Company Workshop. A Custom area with a glamour dresser, Summoning Bell, Armoire, and Aesthetician Bell would be awesome with a few vendors as well to free up the need for all those items in our already limited housing budget.
They've repeatedly said it's not possible at this time.
Gamer Escape: I’m curious why we haven’t seen the glamour dresser as a furnishing item yet?
Y: In terms of having a furnishing item… there’s a scary amount of item data connected to it. Something like a glamour dresser has a few hundred items associated with it. With furnishing items, you can move it around, or someone else can move it around… it’s very dangerous and risky and very unstable to have an item like that for you to place in your own personal housing.
I’m sure with the convenience of moving around normal furnishings, or having retainers available, or having the ability to access market boards, it’s logical to think, “why can’t we have it as an item?” but the engineering behind that, having the items taken out, but suddenly not having it there, or having other people affect the location of the dresser…. we have to be very careful in working on that. That’s why we can’t just have it available as a furnishing item or something that can be readily placed.
they also said having a checkmark on obtained items was impossible due to overwhelmingly excessive service ending strains on the game servers
Adding what's essentially an Inn Room as an instanced option in an FC House doesn't have any of the constraints they mentioned. You can't move objects in the Company Workshop and I'm completely fine with that. I just want to be able to make glamour plates from my FC House without teleporting to a major city. They don't even have to make an entire instanced area either. The door that leads to the FC chambers could have an option called Storage Closet that brings up the menu for the Glamour Dresser. It wouldn't be an item in the house but a feature from the menu.
Isn't it just a list of items similar to pets and mounts that saves if you have it yes or no? We don't need to physically store our pets and mounts in a stable or something either.
Maybe it is a problem with the engine.
